My first impression of Dr. Stickler was he was a very kind person. That has not changed, except I know know how competent he is too! His office staff is great - they have always treated me in a friendly manor and been very helpful.
What did I like least about him? I can't think of anything. New patients should know he treats you pre surgery exactly like he treats you post surgery - like a real, capable, intelligent person, not an overwieght number. Almost any doctor I saw b4 surgery only saw fat - if I had went to them because a bear ate my leg off they would look and say "Well if you weren't so heavy this wouldn't have happen..."
Some people may not like him because he is no nonsence about gaining any weight from your pre-adm apt. with him and surgery! This is for your own health and your health is paramount with him.
Dr. Stickler is ALL about aftercare. He has set up his office to deal with aftercare programs = a state of the art fitness gym with instructors, dietitian, support group both in office geared towards the medical and we patients have also set up local support groups all over the state with his blessing.
He and his partner, Dr Shin are very upfront about the risk of surgery and have a seminar with all patients to go over everything and you can also go online at Medabolix.com for his seminar there explaning the risks.
Over all he's a 10. For me surgical competence is MOST important but with Dr. Stickler you get competence and great bedside manner.

Dr. Stickler is ok. At first, I thought he was great, but after I developed my GI bleed, he didn't seem to care too much. I guess I hurt his statistics. I've found several patients that haven't went back to him after their first year, and I don't recommend him to any of my friends. He is a competent surgeon, and a nice man, but i really think he's in the business for prestige and recognition, not because he cares about helping the obese.

Dr. Stickler is a very confident person, which helped me a lot. My impression has gotten stronger. The office staff very friendly. There is really nothing that I didn't like about him. The after care is what determines your success with the surgery, after all it just a tool. Yes, Risk were discussed in great detail. Dr. Stickler is a very professional surgeon, and I don't believe that he would mislead any person who is considering this surgery. How would you describe his surgical competence, unbelievable! My family was amazed at his compassion and understanding. There would not be enough room nor time to do describe all the wonderful things about Dr. Stickler.

My 1st impression was I really liked him he was nice, very informative and very supportive.I have only gotten to like him better. His staff is absolutley wonderful.THEY ARE ALL VERY ADAMENT ABOUT AFTERCARE.They have a great program from start to finish.Quit frank about the risks of surgery with me.He uis the best Dr. Ive ever had and belive me Ive had a bunch.

Dr. Stickler and I instantly clicked on a professional as well as personal level. I am a nurse and had already built a respect for him from working with him in a local hospital. He was caring a down to earth. I still have the upmost respect for him, and I am 2 years 8 months post surgery. His office staff were excellent at the time I was still seeing them.
He and his staff are doing a great service for the obese population and I would refer anyone to them. They are informative and caring from beginning to end.
The only suggestion I would make would be they continue to follow their bariatric paients post surgery at least yearly for possible complications as PCP's are sometimes unsure about abdominal complications or other health complications or proper treatment.

My first impression of Dr. Stickler was good. He was pleasant and soft-spoken. His office staff was also very professional and helpful. RN, Matt, was great!
Since I have only begun my WLS journey, I do not have a lot of information to contribute about Dr. Stickler and his staff, but overall I was pleased with my visit.

The first time I met with Dr. Stickler I knew he was the best of the best! I had read so many reviews about him on this website - I felt like I already knew all about him and what to expect! This is a wonderful place to come for information and support. My impression of Dr. Stickler only got better over time. I went to the education seminar in December of 2003. After that - my first appointment with Dr. Stickler was on January 7, 2004. The entire office staff is AMAZING - so sweet and caring. I never once doubted their skills or Dr. Stickler's ability. I felt so comfortable putting my life in their hands.
Medabolix's aftercare program is amazing as well. They just don't do the surgery and forget about you. You have follow-up visits after 1 week, 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, 9 months, and so on. You always meet with the nurse, dietian, doctor, etc. to talk about any problems you might be having.
They are also wonderful going over everything (complications, changes, risks, etc.) before surgery. As a matter of fact you have to take a quiz to prove to them that you understand the procedure, risks, and complications that might occur.
Both Dr. Stickler's competence and bedside manner are AMAZING!
Overall I would rate Dr. Stickler and Medabolix an A+++++++. They're the best of the best!
