Hello...Some of you might remember me as the guy who had an Open RNY 5-14-2001,on my thirtieth birthday, just seven short days ago. It's been one week post-op, and I can't even believe how good I feel. The time in the hospital and the first few days home seem like a hundred years ago. I can get up and down without a lick of difficulty. I can swallow and hold down liquids and even some soft foods without the slightest difficulty, and I do not take any prescription pain medicines. I drive, I shop, I walk...it's miraculous. I started at 314, and today I weighed 288...a drop of 26 pounds. I am melting away, and all of my outfits are like tents. Although I credit this website for giving me the tools of knowledge and education, I can only have achieved this quick recovery and blessing by the grace of God.

It is May 14th and I am happy to say Peter is doing well and by the way Happy Birthday Peter and I am quite proud of you. Well the surgery was supposed to start at 9:00 a.m. but it was at 12:00 before it got started, Peter was so great at the surgery he joked before he went in I was very impressed with him. We watched T.V. for about 3 hours before the sugery began. We watched Jerry Springer and also we were laughing because Ms. Cleo came on and we talked about calling her to make sure that the surgery would be a success. Well Peter went in and I am glad to tell you all it was a big success!!!!!!!!!!! He is resting now we waited 4 hours for him and we were a little worried but, the doctor talked with us and told us it was a big success!!!!!!!! We went in and saw him I started to cry, I am so very Happy for you Peter. Happy Birthday to one of my closest buddies. Love ya your Angel

Well it's 1:57 a.m. on Monday May 14, 2001. I have been thirty years old for almost two hours, and I will be having my surgery in 10 hours. I changed my status now to Post-Op, which is actually a temporary fib, but I will not be able to change it. My lifelong friend Lora Parlapiano will be acting as my angel, updating my information to my many cyber-supporters. (Lora is such a good friend, she camped out with me Saturday 5/12/2001 at Ticketmaster so we could get seats to the big Madonna show on July 21st at the First Union Center in Philadelphia.. we got twelth row on the floor) Thanks you for all the people who make this website possible. Without your help, I could have not come this far. I really feel I am making an informed decision based partly on what I have learned about WLS on this site. The decision to have WLS is almost the most courageous decision that a person can make. I think that despite any risks, it the surgery presents itself as an opportunity to change this terrible medical condition. No matter how my operation turns out, I would still encourage others to be brave enough to continue to take the risk. See you on the other side!
