"The Obesity Treatment Staff at UMDNJ seemed very professional and organized, and as if they truly cared about their patients. I went to a group orientation. There was no dog and pony show, they simply outlined the procedure and the possible complications of it. Dr. Kamelgard seemed very available and hands on. He seemed to have the reputation as a doctor who keeps a close eye over his patients with the aid of a well trained staff. The aftercare program was clearly indicated, and seems to be one of the most demanding around. Dr. wants to see you quite regularly for the first eighteen months to make sure that everything is going well. Also, visits with a nutritionist and physical therapist are also required. Dr. seems to be both a skilled surgeon and have a good bedside manner. He tries to make patients understand that if they work within the boundaries of the operation, if they listen to him, this is a very safe and beneficial procedure. UPDATE...Dr. Kamelgard was great! I teased him and told him he looked like Tom Green, the comedian from MTV. (It's very difficult to try to remain sad in the hospital when Tom Green comes in to visit you) Doc didn't know who Tom Green was, not even when I told him he was married to Drew Barrymore. I found out that Doc and I also both like Six Flags Great Adventure, and we talked about how much we liked the new Nitro hypercoaster. What I'm trying to say is that not only is this a highly professional group, but they are very personable as well. May God Bless Dr. Kamelgard and his staff!"
