Wausau Hospital Hospital

I was very happy with the nursing staff. Helpful and informative. My biggest problem was the hospital did not have the correct size binder for me. (I had open VBG so needed the binder for support when walking) The one they gave me was at least twice as large was I was so for all practical purposes i was trying to walk without support for my abdominal area.

The surgery team and recovery room team were just excellent. The care of the floor was less than desirable. I understand the hospital is address these issues. All I can say is be educated on your surgery, your post op diet, etc. There needs to be a little more education for the floor staff and nurses regarding what a gastric bypass patient can have and shouldn't have. Be educated and don't be afraid to speak up! Dr. Brebrick was awesome--came up every day at 6:45, very nice bedside manner and highly intelligent.

The hospital was great. There was usually a nurse in the nurse's station just outside the door that I could talk to if I had any questions or call if I needed any help. The nurses were great and very quick to call my surgeon's office with any questions that I had. Even though I had an amazingly easy recovery, there were two occasions were I didn't feel good. On both the nurse called the surgeons office - the first time additional medication was ordered over the phone, the second time and on call surgeon came right over. In both cases the hospital and surgeon worked together to bring me very fast releif.
