Wausau Hospital Hospital

There were a few very good CNA's and a few nice nurses; but there are some that are uncaring and sometimes downright mean. I would sometimes, depending on who was on staff that day, go all day without being asked if I would like to clean up. I was on Morphine for goodness sakes; how could I even remember up from down? Sometime, after the morpine was done, they tought that I had pca drugs, but I didn't, I had schedualled meds. I asked and asked for something and waited for hours to get something. I couldn't sleep, I got bedsores and it sometimes didn't seem like people listened when I talked. It's not like I had some sort of cognitive issue. Also, I had nightmares and would frequently wake from my breathing stopping because I was sleeping on my back; one time I woke up crying from a nightmare and the girl who came yelled at me beacuse I knocked over my water when I startled myself awake. She never tried to comfort me or anything and I also asked her for something, new water I think, and an hour later she still hadn't come back. I paged again and the nurse came in and I told her what happened. I was very unpleased with the care there, excepting a few people.

The RNs and RNAs were wonderful. They were very attentive to my needs and to the pain I was having. Encoraged me and the other WLS patients to walk and were always there with warm blankets and whatever else they could do to help with pain. My surgeon visited me 2-3 times a day and the nutritionists were in at least 1 time a day to make sure that I understood Post op diet and did I have any questions. They all made me feel like I was there only patient. It was as pleasant experience as it could have been given the circumstances.
