I am so glad this is where my surgery was done. Everyone was great and the accomodations couldn't have been better.

For the Cleveland Clinic, which we always hear so much rave about how it's the best, I was not overly impressed with my care, this does not include my doctor. He was excellent, it was the nurses and aides I had problems with

Everyone from the parking attendents, greeters, info people, staff, nurses and doctors all seem to be extremely proud to be a part of the Cleveland Clinic team. And they are all well trained about being good service providers.

There were only a few hiccups on my stay at the Clinic. A few of the employes tended to be a little loud in the hallway, and some were having more fun having interaction with each other than being helpful to me. There were no chairs in my hospital room for my family to sit and visit and my son was reprimanded by the nurse for sitting on my bed. Also, out of the four or so times we've visited the BMI center for various reasons, we've been kept waiting every time. Even my surgery was at least two and a half hours delayed. My physicians visit for post-op follow-up was also delayed two hours because of a "snafu". It's not pleasant to just sit and wait and wait and wait although the staff did tell me why the doctors were late both times.
Dr. Schauer's staff is very helpful and pleasant, but his assistant, Laura, can be abrupt and somewhat condescending.

Like I said, the Cleveland Clinic is a huge medical/teaching facility. I had some significant pain postop from an ileus. The Fellow was in 3-4 times a day to see me. The staff was attentive and sensitive. The pain I was having couldn't be medicated away with pain medication. I had to go down for tests, things were done quickly. Transporters and Radiology staff were very sensitive to my pain postop and worked with me. I would choose this hospital over any other again.

Their bariatric program is constantly evolving. They must have one of the best, if not the best, program in U.S.
