Dr. Watson was wonderful! He was very nice, explained things very well and made sure that I had a total understanding of what was going to happen. His staff is wonderful, I only have until June to have the surgery or it wont be covered by my insurance, so I know I was a little annoying and impatient but they put up with me anyway. Dr. Watson does emphasize aftercare and they do have a program. Before I could even get a consultation with Dr. Watson I had to attend a seminar where they explained how the surgery worked, the ups and downs and everything in between. The only thing that I would complain about is when you have your consultation they ask that you arrive 30min early which means and extra half hour of sitting there waiting, it was a small price to pay and well worth it. In my case I would rate them a 10. I had my consultation on March 8th and on March 29th I had a surgery date. I am a unique situation though... I was not able to have surgery with my original surgeon because of Carson Tahoe Hospital so when I switched to Dr. Watson I already had all my testing done and my approval from my insurance company.

I was very impressed about how he listended to me and how sensitive he was. So caring.I would recamend Dr Watson to any one who is wanting this surgery done. the staff is great. They answer all questions you have and will even give you tissue if you need some when you cry.Over all I am well pleased in all the Dr's I've got.

I felt comfortable with Dr. Watson right away. He's a bit aloof but his office staff is so awesome. They are really supportive. I don't know about the aftercare, yet. My first post op tomorrow and I can tell you more.

I had my first visit with Dr. Watson this past Monday. I was so impressed with his office staff. From the moment you walk into the office they make sure that you fell like a person not a number. Karen and Connie are great people. You cant ask for two more caring and informative people. As for Dr. Watson I think he is awsome!!!He took the time to make sure that my husband understood everything that I was going to be going through. He took the time to go over all the risks of the surgery and pointed out complications that can happen and explained how he handles the situations that might arrise. He ,ade sure that he answered all of my questions and then some. During the visit he Never made us feel like he was in a hurry or that we were asking too much. He has a great before and after care program for his patients to follow. Both his staff as well as Dr. Watson want the patients to succeed with WLS. I was nervous going into the visit but came out with all the confidence in the world. I cant say enough for him and his staff.

Dr. Watson is an incredibly brilliant surgeon. He has an extrodinary ability to make even the most skitish of patients comfortable. He answered all of my questions as well as my mother's and explained in great detail the potenial complications as well as expectations for success. He is very concerned about all aspects of the gastric bypass program, pre-operatively and post-operatively. The aftercare program involves regular follow up visits with blood work, support group meetings as well as special events for gastric patients. One month after my surgery was the American Heart Association's annual heart walk, Dr Watson was out there walking with our group of gastric bypass patients! He believes in this program and works really hard to make it work for his patients. Overall I would say he is among the best of the best. I trusted him with my life and in return he gave me a much better life than I could have imagined possible.

My first impression of Dr. Watson, and his nurse Karen was.... wonderful!! So often you run across what I like to call "HMO Doctors". They don't give a damn and never even remmber your name or anything about you. They really don't care. Not so with Dr. Watson and Karen. They take the time with you. Have lots and lots of questions for you in their screening. And then let you ask them all the questions you can some up with. Karen even answers questions about her own personal experience with WLS even that rude question I asked "how much did you weigh before?" That was very helpful because it helped me put things in perspective as she was the first person I have met face to face who has been thru WLS. Dr. Watson has a very structured program that requires support group meetingings pre and post op, educational class, ICU after surgery, gym membership, and an activer participation on the part of the patient (me) in their own weight loss. He also requests that you at least TRY to loose some weight prior to surgery as it will help the entire healing process. I am looking forward to having Dr. Watson care for me and I am sure he will do an excellent job both before, during, and after surgery!

Dr. Watson took time to answer all my questions, and he was late for rounds due to me being so inquisitive. He was very kind and honest about the procedure and risks and benefits. The staff at Western Surgical Group is great. The only delay in getting approval was when Dr. Watson took a long time to get my medical history dictated, but that was due in part to him being on vacation. There is a local support group that is highly recommended, and patients are required to join a gym, health club, YMCA, and there is a group that meets weekly for a walk. I would rate WSG as excellent, both in terms of bedside manner/patient care and surgical competence.

Dr. Watson was very real about the surgery, the pro's and con's, not hedging around the bush. I am very confident that he is very well versed in this field. He appears to have a good bedside manner as well, a good surgeon and good bedside manner are two things that are hard to find in one person. The office staff is very friendly and helpful.

Today was my first appointment with the surgeon and staff. Spoke with Karen who was very informative about the surgery, risks, possible complications, what is expected of me, etc. I then met with Dr. Watson who asked me questions, explained the surgery and answered all my questions. I felt very comfortable speaking with the personnel in the office. Both Karen and Dr. Watson stressed the aftercare and provided me with a listing of date and times for support group meetings. The office staff seems to be very compassionate about the surgery. I would recommend Dr. Watson to others contemplating this procedure. The only downside was the time it took to file the paperwork with the insurance. I think I got lost in the shuffle. It took approx a month after my last test to file. The good news is it only took my insurance company 3 days to approve.

I had my first appointment after only about 10 days after I called his office. His staff and nurse, Karen, were excellent. They were very friendly, helpful and private.

My first impression of my doctor was tremendous. He answered all of my questions and concerns. He was honest about all of the risks involved in the surgery, but I found his honesty was comforting. He treated me with great respect and felt I would be a good candidate for the surgery. He told that the office was a bit backed up on receiving surgical approvals, but to keep calling them.

Both the doctor and his nurse stressed what was required in the aftercare. I know what I am getting into.

Dr. Watson performs the gastric bypass as a lap, but was not sure if the scar tissue from my gall bladder rupture surgery would require an open procedure.

I told the doctor to to CHECK THIS SITE!!!
