I've only met Doc Watson once so far, but he seemed very knowlagable, down to earth, and easy to talk to. He thinks I will be a perfect candidate for the surgery and is almost as excited about it as I am!!rnThe staff at the western bariatric center are wonderful, and all work as a team to help you achieve your goal. Thank God we have this center right here in Reno, as this surgery is now acheivable for me!

My first impression of Dr. Watson, was very professional, no-nonsense and efficient. At the end of my consultation I was more at ease. I really appriciated his initial question being: \"What are your questions / concerns\".rnI think patients should realize, even though these Drs. do this a lot we do not want them to be all kicked back and lazy during our consultations, because then we would think they weren't serious enough about our individual case. He was very willing to explain how the after care program worked, I would consider it extensive. Dr. Watson definately addressed the risks / complications. rnSo far I respect and appriciate his bedside manner and have no insecurities with his surgical competence.rnI'm still Pre-LapBand~~ I will update soon!!rnrn9/11/07 SURGERY DATErnSurgeon, Surgery & Recovery was FANTASTIC!!rnrn9/26/07 Post-Op

I first saw Dr. Watson that the seminar. Originally I had planned to choose another doctor, but after the seminar and his response to questions, I changed my mind. I have only had one meeting with him. The office staff is nice enough and do take some time returning calls. Once I have had surger I will update.

From the moment I walked into the office I felt comfortable, just knowing I was not being stared at and everyone in the office was there for the same reason, there was no weird looks from patients and the office staff was very helpful.rnDr.Watson was very nice and made me feel welcome. He seemed to care about all aspects of my life including my weight.rnHe actually was the surgeon that gave the presentation and I felt with him doing presentations he had a feeling of what patients are looking for and he is aware of the many concerns that came from the patients at the seminiar.rn

'I had a great doctor from the git go and I am out now almost five years. I was one of his first. Do not even have an ID number I am that old. But. ot seems that once he got on the fast track to doing more surgeries and enlarged his office us oldies got lost in the paper work. I have not been contacted in over a year about any event or been invited to participate

I love this man! In a purely platonic hero worship, non stalker sort of way. He's performed my lap cholecystectomy, 2 lap hernia repairs and my lap RnY now. I think this guy has the best bedside manner and he's a walking Weight Loss Surgery encyclopedia.
I first started going to Dr. Watson a few years back when I developed a lodged gallstone that required gallbladder removal. As I've had a medical background and aspirations for going somewhere in the medical field, I expected him to talk down to me, but he did no such thing. He explained every part of the procedure, in detail and told me the good, the bad and the ugly. He visited me before that surgery and made me feel tons better.
During that time, he suggested the Lap RnY as I was overweight. (about 250) I had attempted to go through the insurance thing, but I was denied for not having enough requisites. I was ok, and figured it was for the best because everything happens for a reason.
I hit 300 pounds earlier this year, and the breaking point for me was not being able to fit in the desks at school, or getting up from them without taking them with me. I went back to see Dr. Watson and we picked up right where we left off. He explained some new things to me, he answered all of my questions easily and helpfully and took my health and my concern seriously. He stressed that the aftercare was very important and that I'd be visiting him regularly after surgery for follow ups.
After I got the approval, had the surgery, I have to say the man did an awesome job! I had some unrelated side effects, but as far as the surgery goes- it's been pretty awesome. Any problems I've had with my new pouch are my own fault for eating too fast or too much. I have minimal little stab wounds and I just can't rave enough about the awesome job he did!!!
Dr. Watson has excellent surgical skills, and one of the nicest, yet honest bedside manners of all the docs I've ever been to. I feel utterly safe in his hands and I have never gone into a surgery blind to the risks, thanks to his explanations.
I highly highly highly recommend Dr. Watson.
However, I unfortunately am pretty frustrated with the scheduling staff because getting a call back from them seems to be near impossible. Melissa and Chris on staff are wonderful to work with, very compassionate and excellent at their jobs. The scheduling department either needs to be padded or reorganized.

My first impression of Dr. Watson was that he is a very caring and compassionate. He took the time to answer all of the questions that my husband and I asked of him..right down to the size of the staples that were to be used for my procedure. He also pulled no punches as to the possible risks of the surgery..he was very upfront about everything. Also, his sugical competence is wonderful! I was in surgery for only 1 and a half hours.
His office staff is the best!! Melissa is very helpful and can pretty much answer any question you have in the absence of the doctor. They have a very structured aftercare program with post op appts at one week, one month, three months, 6 months, 9 months, and 1 year. They stress how important these follow up appointments are to your overall success with the surgery.
Overall, I would rate Dr. Watson very, very good in his surgical competence and fairly good in his bedside manner...only because I haven't seen him much since my surgery...and that could be considered a good thing :-)

My surgeon is DR. Robert Watson with western bariatric institute, He was very professonal and to the point. His office on the other hand is a little flaky, Roberta is great (when she answers the phone) and rhonda has been wonderful, but I can only get through on the phone really early in the morning, and when you leave a message they DO NOT call you back. I'm still satisfied and would reccomend them though.
