Dr. Weber is so wonderful. He truly cares about his patients and wants them to be successful. I had total confidence in him.
His receptionist is about the rudest person I've ever met, but Dr. Weber is worth it. I actually thought she might be sabatoging me.
His office number is 206 782 7441. Just ignore the rude person that answers the phone, and ask about his In session that's free that gives you all the nitty gritty details about the different surgeries.
Exercise is number 1 to him. Be prepared to start walking about 2 hours after the surgery, and by the time you go home 45 minutes of walking/exercising per day, even if it takes you 5 walks to do it. On a scale of 1 to 10 I would give him an 11. He has performed over 2000 bariatric surgeries and only 2 deaths, but those were people who didn't follow the program at all. His bedside manner is excellent. You will feel like you are his only patient, and he truly cares about you. Best of luck to you.
Dr. Webber is a man of few words, I have found after 3 appointments. He is straight forward, and doesn't mince words. He doesn't spend a lot of time with me, but after 3 visits that is fine with me. He is an excellent surgeon and that is what is important to me. He really makes me jomp through hoops to get this surgery, but since I am putting my life in his hands, that is what I want. I lost 13 pounds between my first and second appointments, but unfortunately gained five pounds since I last saw him.....so two weeks to increase my exercising and to loose the five pounds I gained. Initially I was put off by Dr. Webber, however now I appreciate all the pre-op stuff I have to do.
Well, my first impression of Dr. Weber is that he was a surgeon, hurried, but whenever I did have a question he never failed to answer it or if I asked for more explaination he would provide it but you had to ask. A to the point kind of man but you could tell he did care, which I felt was really important. I still feel he is a caring surgeon. He personally came to see me everyday in the hospital and even took the time to remove my gastric tube himself. He has a can do attitude and I really like that sometimes a little demanding aboiut meeeting his expectations but he knows his stuff. Now his office staff has some issues, the insurance woman, has no interpersonal skills. But, after you are done with your insurance part you do not have to worry about her as much. The nursing staff in his office has always been friendly. Dr. Weber requires a lot of pre-surgical info and my best advise is to have it all done prior to seeing him it makes it much easier. Weber is very big on after care at least a year with him as well as with your regular primary care physcian with certain labs needing to run at certain times. If you have any questions you can always ask Dr. Weber he also has a seminar about once a month that addresses the procedure, risks, and insurance questions you may have before seeing him. I would rate Dr. Weber on a scale from 1 to 10 with 10 being the best. A 9. I think surgical competence and bedside manner go together so they both need to be great and Weber is great at both.
I first actually met Doc Weber in the hospital when my friend Jenn Miller had her surgery.. It was 5/21/01.. He was very nice to come out after her surgery and let us know everything that happend and what to expect.. But when I told him that I was a soon-to-be patient he actually took the time to sit down with me right then and there and talk about it.... He's a good guy....
When I first went to Dr. Weber's in house seminar I was still not sure if I really wanted to do WLS. After hearing what Edie and Dr. Weber had to say i was sure of two things, 1-that I really did want it done and 2-that Dr. Weber was going to be the man to do it. Starting with Pam, Edie right down to Dr.Weber not one made you feel bad about why you were there. They all were very helpful and friendly. one thing about the office, because Dr. Weber is so busy it was really had to get ahold of him or Edie. Please know that Dr. Weber does not kid around about WLS and the program that he has you on, if you can't get over all the paper work and test just remember why YOU are there. Dr. Webber also will take good care of you as long as you stick to the program afterwards also. Dr. Weber is a straight forward guy and likes to tell you as is, you leave his office with all your questions anwsered and he doesn't miss anything. Over all my opinion is if you live anywhere near Dr. Weber and are thinking about WLS, you want him to help you.
First impressions of Dr Weber has come second hand! He is hard core and believes in what he does. He pulls no punches. I cannot wait to meet him, and I hope everything I have heard is true!!! Well I have actually met Dr. Weber. Ok not one on one but for his inservice. I instantly knew Dr. Weber was for me. My husbands concerns went from the actual surgery itself to just insurance after the meeting. Now I have to get hopping!!! I have a lot of things to get done!
Ok met him and love him. First time I have ever wanted to kiss any Doctor that I have ever went to. Also first time I had butterflies from being worried I wasn't fat enough! It was weird. As of now I could care less I was seen late for my appointment. I could wait until the cows come home. I know he is right for me!
I am extremely pleased with Dr. Weber. My husband loves him and has total confidence in him, and that has helped him be able to support me. Knowing I was in good hands helped hubby lots!
I like the fact that Dr. Weber places a lot of emphasis on exercise and his post op diet (once you get past 8 weeks of liquids) is well rounded.
Dr. Weber is very supportive and really on the ball. He's a great surgeon and I enjoy my office visits with him. He really is concerned for his patients and cares about how we are doing.
He is an excellent surgeon. I haven't been happy with him about anything other than the actual surgery itself. No one came out to update my family on how things were going or went after surgery. My family didn't even know I was done with surgery when I was already in my room. Every time I call with questions or concerns, he seems annoyed. These statements are true as they are impressions and experiences of mine.
Dr. Weber is very open and friendly. He has high standards for his bariatric surgery patients which I think is great because it ties right in with an extensive after-care program. When my husband asked Dr. Weber about possible complications he described in great detail several cases where complications had resulted in death. He didn't try to hide anything and answered all of our questions very directly. I can't yet speak on his surgical competence as I haven't yet had the surgery, but he was very easy to talk to. As others have mentioned, he stresses exercise, seven days a week without fail and he will cancel surgery if he feels you are being lax in this particular area. He will question you about your exercise habits and he WILL challenge you if he thiks you are lying. His office staff was busy and quite abrupt when I tried to speak to some of them. Although they do seem to be competent. I haven't yet faxed all of my completed paperwork for insurance submittal so I'm not sure how thorough they are or whether they follow up as they should, but when I do find out I'll post it. At this point I am pleased with Dr. Weber and hope that my experiences with him continue to be pleasant. Good luck!
