I met Dr. Hitchcock a year ago at my first appointment. At last, somebody who is up front, to the point and tells you the truth! I liked him instantly for that reason. He has a lot of surgical experience. I was a paramedic for a number of years so I speak \"doctoreze\". It is nice to be able to talk to him on that level. I've spent 3 years studying the different types of surgery and I have chosen RNY because I believe it is the best alternative for me. The Bariatric Center of Kansas City has a very structured pre and post surgical program along with a lot of counselling up front. They are a little hard to get a hold of sometimes but like most good things in life, persistence pays off. I get the feeling that they are looking for persistent patients too - people that are going to stick with the post surgical program. The first two places I went to before The Bariatric Center of Kansas City reminded me of patient \"mills\". So, my advice is to choose your surgeon wisely. It is like getting married. Don't go in to it blindly or you'll be disappointed.

I really liked Dr. Hitchcock. He has a great since of humor.rnrnI have only met with him once so far.rnrnHis office staff is very friendly and helpful.rnrnHe is very excited about what he is able to do for people who are obese. He loves seeing the results.rnrnThis entire program is a very organized and well oiled machine. Everyone knows exactly what they are doing and they march you right through the steps. It's very impressive.rnrnI will rate him overall after my surgery is complete and I'm in recovery mode.rnrnI think surgical competence is obviously very important but so is bedside manner for communication.rnrnI absolutely love Dr. Hitchcock - he is an awesome surgeon and I had absolutely no problems with my RNY Gastric Bypass. I highly recommend him to anyone considering the surgery. He is very passionate about what he does and you can tell that he loves seeing the results. He's a great Doctor and an awesome human being.

My first impression of Dr. Hitchcock was that he was a nice and personable man. I first met him when I attended the seminar. He is very knowledgeable about the surgery, what it involved and the risks. Any questions I had he answered without seeming like it was an inconvenience. I never felt rushed when I went to my appointments as he always had time for me. I would recommend him to anyone in the KC area wanting to have the surgery. When it comes to after care he is adamant about his patients doing what they are supposed to do to make this tool work. His office staff is so very helpful and accommodating. I would definitely recommend The Bariatric Clinic of Kansas City 100%. Thank for helping me get my life back.

Dr. Hitchcock is amazingly intelligent, with a laid back attitude. He is definitely wanting you to succeed with the surgery. He seems very kind, yet wants you to be knowledgeable as to the risks involved, and aftercare. I like his staff, they were very helpful.I have complete confidence in Dr. Hitchcock's surgical competence.

Dr. Hitchcock reminded me of the father of a guy I probably should have married. He is caring, honest & has the bedside manner of a saint. He is totally interested in continued care of his patients; there is lots of structure. He let's his patients know the true risks of the surgery & what may happen if you have it, or if you choose not to have it. I would trust this man to operate on anyone....he helped me save my life.

My first impression of Dr. Hitchcock was that he was a nice older man. He has a wonderful, charming manner about him that reminds you of a grandfather who goes fishing and sits around with grandchildren on his lap. He was very knowledgeable about the surgery and explained everything I didn't understand along with answering the many questions I had. I would recommend him to anyone in the KC area wanting to have the surgery. His nurses, Billie and Lynda were very nice, helped out a lot and the whole process was very smooth. Thanks KC Bariatric Center for a job well done!

My first impression is that the office staff and doctors (there are more than one in the office) are incredibly busy with a lot of patients. I figured this is a direct result of the successes they've had. Even so, the office staff used my name at every interaction and always returned my calls. I was very impressed with their efficiency and organization. It was apparent from the start that they have a clear timeline and process for moving patients through the program. I was thrilled with the amount of preparation that you go through before your surgery date and the calls following the surgery to ensure I was doing well. My postop appointment was set before I even had the surgery and I was well prepared for all aspects. I appreciate the staff and Dr. Hitchcock who was personable and caring both in the office and after waking up from the surgery. My only personal concern was how quickly patients are released after surgery. For some this may be an added bonus and yet I would have appreciated a little extra TLC after surgery if only to ensure fluids were passing effectively. I had no problems at home, I'm just a baby! =0)

I have full confidence in Dr. Hitchcock and knowing he has been both Chief of Staff and Chief of Surgery at the hospital helps. It also helps to know that the clinics complication rate is below national average and they have had no deaths. The before and after programs are extensive and I appreciate that because I don't want to go into this with the wrong attitude and find myself inching my way back up to my beginning weight. I truly am thankful to my Lord Jesus Christ for providing this answer to over 20 years of praying for my weight and health issues. I look forward to using the energy I will have to being a better wife and a more effective servant in the Kingdom of God. This decision was not made lightly, many others have prayed with me as well. I have no qualms about what is about to take place. Just a wonderful peace and lots of excitement.rnrnI went to a seminar on June 20. I submitted my paper work that week and the waiting began. Now let me begin by saying that I have always refused to pray for patience because you know what that brings. At times the process seemed so slow and there were some delays. However, I can't say the delays were any worse than I encounter at any of my specialist physicians. Once the insurance approval was received, things have flown and here I am three weeks away from surgery.rnrnDr. Hitchcock was very thorough in my visit with him today about the risks and the lifestyle changes that must be made. He seemed to be in no hurry as we discussed the surgery and my health issues.

Very good first impression, he is no nonsense and lets you know what to expect upfront. I was told I needed to lose some weight prior to surgery, I did not lose all I was supposed to and he was not very happy. He thought that if you could not prepare prior to surgery that it was only going to be harder after surgery. The office staff is very personable. They do stress attending support group meetings. I thought overall he was a very good surgeon. I only heard positive things about him prior and I can understand why.
