I attended the first support group meeting tonight and got to meet a lot of pre and post-of patients. It was great meet everyone and I look forward to getting to know everyone better as we continue on the journey. The best thing about support groups is that we don't have to go it alone. There is someone who has been where I am today and can help me get through the rough spots. And there will be people who need some encouragement from me in the future. To the post-ops who were present tonight, keep up the great work. I can't wait to be a loser along with you. To those who have just started out, it seems like a long road but it really isn't. Keep your eye on the prize-a healthy you. God bless us everyone!

I had my consult with Dr. Case today and everything is a go with the exception of needing another EGD. In the meantime, Lisa will be preparing my packet and sending it to Aetna for approval. If all goes well, I may be able to have surgery in July or August. Everyone at Dr. Case's office couldn't be nicer or easier to work with. Dr. Case is very patient and answers all your questions. The girls in the office are so friendly and helpful. I highly recommend Dr. Case to anyone considering the surgery.

Last night I completed my CPAP titrate and now all the testing is done. Hooray. I should have the report by the middle of next week, at which time I will deliver all the reports to Dr. Haicken's office next Friday. I am optimistic that I will have surgery by July or August. And my birthday is in July--what a way to celebrate my birthday, with the beginning of a new life.

I have all my paperwork ready to go except for my CPAP titrate on 5/8/03. Once I have that report, I will be marching in to Dr. Haicken's office with all the results. I pray that Aetna will approve me quickly so that I can have surgery this summer. I have not heard good news from others about Aetna. I don't want to have a fight with them but I will if I have to. This surgery is so important to me.

Today I met with pulmonologist who ordered a split sleep study. The results of my ultrasound are in - my gallbladder has to go. I pray it will list until WLS. I will get everyone in my church to pray. Psychiatric consult tomorrow if I can iron out some insurance difficulties. Thanks so much for the prayers and words of encouragement. They mean so much.

Well today I started all the testing. I had my chest x-ray and abdominal ultrasound. This afternoon I see the gastroenterologist for the first time. On Monday it's the pulmonologist and Tuesday the psych. Hopefully I can schedule the endoscopy today and the sleep study Monday. All that will be left is the dietician and then the blood tests and ekg. I would love to have it all done by the end of April and get this show on the road. I am so tired of living in this body.
