7/5 - It's almost 7 months since my surgery and I am not where I wanted to be weight wise. My life is so much better, I am doing things that I haven't done in years.
7/8 - Wonderful news - I am below 350 pounds. I lost another 3 pounds, that makes my total weight loss 124 pounds. Paul had his 3 weeks post-op visit today and he's lost 38 pounds.
7/13 - I am sooo happy, I have now lost 127 pounds. Down to 345
7/17 - We stopped in at the hospital and weighed before our support group meeting. I am 7 months & 1 week post-op and have lost 130 pounds. I have a goal ( probably unrealistic) to lost 160 pounds by our family reunion. That means I have to lose 30 pounds in 6 weeks. Can I do it? I could if I get off my butt and exercise everyday. Paul has lost 45 pounds in 4 weeks, he will pass me if I don't stay on top of what I am suppose to be doing.
7/21 - I stopped and weighed at the hospital tonight ....down 133 pounds. Do you realize this is most weight I have ever lost at one time? I have only 5 weeks to lose 27 pounds.

6/1 - I can't believe I am almost 6 months post-op. It's pretty exciting my husband is having his surgery on June 18th. My weight loss is at 111 pounds. I wish it was 150, but I'll take what I can get.
6/7 - WhoooHooo...Happy dance...I'm down 115 pounds. I am so looking forward to the next 100 pounds off.
6/8 - Had my 6 month check up - Dr H doesn't think I will get below 200, In fact he thinks I will only get down to 240 pounds. I will have to work harder to prove him wrong.
6/18 - Paul had his surgery this morning and all went well. He's in a lot of pain but I knew he would be. He is really out of it so I didn't stay late. Tomarrow will be a better day.
6/29 - At 6 1/2 months post-op I have lost 121 pounds. This is the best thing I have ever done for myself. Paul has lost 23 pounds in just less then 2 weeks.

4/17 - Yesterday was our 14th wedding anniversary. Where have the years gone? I did 10 minutes on the treadmill - good for me
4/27 - I'm 18 weeks post-op and have now lost 94 pounds. I'm so happy, I hope to be at 372 by my 5 months post-op. I can't believe I am only 6 pounds away from the century club.

3/11 - It's been a while since my last post, the good news is I went to my 3 month appointment, I almost cried when the scales said 399. i didn't feel like I lost anymore weight. I remember how in the past when I was on a diet and I didn't "feel" like lost weight I'd give up and go off my diet. I'm suppose to start eating 4 oz - but I still can't do 3 oz! The only thing I need to work on is getting in some exercise.
3/12 - Now that I have lost 72 pounds, I would like to tell you some of the wonderful changes that have taken place. I can now put on my own shoes and tie them too!! I can touch my toes. reach around and touch my butt (not that I really need to do that) I am walking better (not limping). I can walk further before I get out of breath. I can be up on my feet longer before my back starts hurting.
3/17 - This would have been my Mothers 75th birthday - I wish she could have lived to see me actually losing weight.
3/18 - I know everyone has their list of things they can now do, in addition to what I have previously posted, I can now wear my wedding rings that have been in my purse for 2 years. I can now sleep through the night without getting up to go to the bathroom.

I was very pleased to see that I have lost 48 pounds. I wish it was more (I'm a little greedy for big numbers). Doctor said I was doing good and he was pleased with my progress

My endoscopy was scheduled for 8AM but the Dr had 8 patients to do so mine has been moved back. The doctor said that my stoma was at 12 which is acceptable but he went ahead and dilated it to 15. He also found some stiches or whatever their called that were tangled. He thought they may have acted like a net not letting anything out.

I hadn't been able to keep anything down for a couple of days, not even fluids. Paul called Dr. Huse and the doctor on call said I should come down tonight and have an endoscopy in the morning. We got to St. Vincents at about 10PM and at 11:30 they were still tying to get an IV started. I was pretty dehydrated so my veins were not co-operating.

I will never forget how I felt as I followed the nurse to pre-op. I was grinning from ear to ear. This was the moment I had dreamed about, cried about, but mostly prayed about. God not only answered my prayer for his but he was giving me the strength to follow through. I felt no fear, not even as I struggled to get on the OR table. WLS I believe can only be successful for you if you have 3 componets:
100% resolve this is the only option you have.
Your mind has to totally accept this's what has to be done, if not you will be bouncing all over the place emotionally. This isn't the time you should be 2nd guessing your decision - don't have the surgery until you're 100% there.
Surgeon & his after care program
There are lots of good surgeons out there, but if can not give you a written handout explaining what foods, how much and when at each stage of post-op - get another surgeon. I have read post after post of those new post-ops that are lost. They are asking other post-ops what they should be eating.
Anti-depressants prescribed for post-ops
We need this extra help at a time when our whole life as we knew it has changed. If you leave the hospital without it call your surgeon and get one. I can't tell you the number of post from those new post-ops that post, "I'm tired", "I don't have any energy", "I question why I had this surgery", "when will I start felling better". They post the same thing weeks and weeks after surgery.
