Shands Hospital
Everything about my hospital stay was great with the exception of one nurse- the staff were very responsive to me everytime I called. I felt that I was well taken care of. The biggest downfall is the parking and my experience with one nurse... for others who will be having surgery there make sure that you know what's going on.. .don't stay so drugged up that you don't know what medication you are receiving etc..... The residents- interns were even good and attentive!
Shand needs more nurses the nurses are so busy it take forever to get help.
A RATED HOSPITAL DRS ,STAFF,NURSES,HOUSEKEEPER, ALL VERY VERY FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL
SHANDS HOSPITAL HAS A SUPERIOR MEDICAL STAFF INCLUDING THE NURSES. THE CARE WAS REMARKABLE. IT WAS JUST TO NOISY IN THE HALLWAYS AT NIGHT.
I didn't receive the nursing care I should have to get me up and moving the first 2 days but after that I had an excellent aid that treated me like a daughter.
I would recommmend this hospital to anyone and everyone!!
When my daughter was in NICU my experience was awesome! After the birth of my daughters I had a wonderful experiences. I can't say that my experience with surgery (non WLS related) and my 2 hospitalizations was that great. The nursing staff was either really good or really sucked. It just depended who I got that day. I was in for 11 days so I got to see quite a few bad nurses!
As are most hospitals there is a nursing shortage and they are stretched to thin. The fact that it is a teaching hospital causes you to explain over and over and for each person to have to get approval from the resident or surgeon above them.
However, they are able to handle any problems being a level I trauma center.
