He did not have a good bedside manner. Put me down when I didn't lose as fast as he wanted. No, program to support you afterwards. My impression did not change overtime. He is a military doctor that was at Ft. Sam Houston at the time.
Staff was o.k.
He did not have an aftercare at the time in 1988. He did tell me about if I don't have this surgery I could die. He could care less what I was feeling or where things were coming from.

I have met this surgeon only once. However,
he is very kind. He was first recomended to
me by the board of Biatric Surgeons.
He then was recommended by Patients that I
know.
Thats all I know for now.
Will tell more after surgery.

I put my real trust in God!

I liked this Doctor right off. He is very personable and extremely knowlegable. I was in his office for about 2 and 1/2 hours. He did most of the talking. He explained in great details the procedure of this surgery. He does the vertical banded gastroplasy. He learned the operation from the Doctor that invented it, Dr.Mason. When he told me that, I felt more at ease with the surgery. I will be meeting with him again befor the surgery to ask all my questions.
He have me an examination and asked me lots of questions. Since I smoke and have asthma, he sent me to a pulminary specialist to make sure my lungs were strong enough for a surgery. I quit smoking Feb.2nd. I have not even had one puff. I am using nicotrol nosespray to help the cravings. This is a big step for me!!! I want to be healthy and I am on my way. I am a canidate for the surgery and I am just waiting for him to get back from his vacation so he can send in all my paperwork to my insurance company.
Before I seen the surgeon, I went to my regular MD. He took most of my bloodwork I needed. I also has a chest x-ray and a sonogram on my gall bladder. I had a complete physical and an ekg. I had lots of Dr. appointments. So now I am just waiting for Dr. Michaels to send in my papers to the insurance. I am getting very excited. This has given me time to get ready, since I will be out of work for a bit, this will be a hardship on my finances. I really like Dr. Michaels and I am very confident that he will do the best job that he can!! He takes this very seriously and he is very thorough. This is not a cure-all. He emphasizes afterwards it is up to me to follow the diet.I will be learning a completely new way to eat.I have lots of questions still to ask, but I am almost ready. I will write more later. Thanks for listening.

My first impression of Dr Walter's was that he didn't appear to be a friendly person. But I was way off. He was very nice and extremely informative. Without even asking, he was able to answer most of my questions. Glenda, the Office Manager, was very and tried to put me at ease.

I had all the information I needed to make my decision about having this surgery. Dr. Walters suggested I go to my regular doctor to have labwork and a chest x-ray. Within a week, Dr. Walter's received my complete medical history from my regular doctor and the results of my labwork and chest x-ray. So, we were ready to submit the information to the insurance company. At this point, we are waiting to hear from AETNA US Healthcare. Let's hope it's a go!!!
