My first impression was wonderful. He is a very caring man. he move my surgery back a week to give my throught and lungs time to heal before surgery. All the office staff were really nice, not at all like strangers.
If your planning on having surgery, please contact him, you won't regret it. Dr. Kim emphasizes on aftercare. good success depends on it. He explained by drawin a pictures and explaing where leaks can occure.
I would rate him at least a 8.
both surgical competence and bedside manner go hand in hand, i don't wan't one without the other.

My first impression of Dr. Booth is that he is very down to earth and very informative. He wants to be sure you know every single thing there is to possibly know about the surgery, risks and benefits. He has a great sense of humor and I was very comfortable with him. He wasn't in a hurry and answered all my questions thoroughly. His nurse, Ann, was also very nice and informative. Both of them stress the importance of aftercare and even offer support groups. I just had my first appointment with him and so far on a scale of 1-10, he's undoubtedly an 11! He not only has obvious surgical competence, his bedside manner is wonderful thus far. I believe both are very important when chosing a surgeon. I look forward to meeting with him again!
8/11/02 I had Lap DS done by Dr. Kim on 7/2 and would recomend him to anyone! I think he is a wonderful surgeon that really takes his time and cares about his patients. He called me 3 days after I got home just to check on me.

i first met dr.kim the week before my surgery. he has a great personality and took
time to tell me everything he was going to do and answer all my questions. his office staff is very friendly and helpful. dr. kim
said there were no complications and visited
me once a day in the hospital.he mandates
aftercare for the rest of your life and he makes you sign a form that says you will.
he does not downplay the risks of surgery
and you have to sign a consent stating you
understand the risks. on his consent it says
the risk of death is 1 in 250 nation wide. i
was shocked. i thought it was more like 1 in 1000. i rate dr.kim a 10. his surgical
competence and bedside manner are both great.

2/21/02 ..... I haven't met Dr. Smith yet, but I get the impression that he must be a very busy man! I'm still on a waiting list for my first appointment, but I must say that the staff at his office so far have seemed very nice and encouraging.

3/6/02 ..... I decided to give up on the wait for Dr. Smith and scheduled an appt with Dr. Booth in Mississippi. I can say that the girls in the office are super nice and helpful. They always sound busy when I call, but never rush me off the phone, and even make sure I'm calling on the 800# since I'm not local.

4/5/02 ..... I had my first appt with Dr. Booth on March 28th. He was honest and answered all of our questions (Initially we met as a group). I don't really think I learned a lot, but I had already researched SO much before going. I wasn't overly impressed, but it is kind of hard to impress me. He was comforting, though, and assured everyone that they had a disease not a lack of will power. I would classify him as competent so far. Everything will be handled through the Crossover Bridge. I did feel a little like cattle being herded through, but they seem to really have a good system and true to her word, Kelly had my LOMN out to the insurance company in a day and a half. As for the surgery itself, I don't think that Dr. Booth performs surgery anymore, so it will be with either Dr. Warden or Dr. Kim. Will advise more later.

I had my consultation with Dr. Booth on July 26, 2001. I was very impressed with his way of explaining the proceedure. He was very patient and did not appear hurried as I asked questions. His staff were also impressive. He was very clear about the importance of proper aftercare.
Dr. Keith Kim actually performed my surgery.
He is THE BEST!!!!!!
I don't think there is a more committed physician anywhere. Even at 8 months post-op, Dr. Kim is always willing to listen to me and provides me with the caring, genuine, and compassionate concern for my well-being that I need.

Dr. Kim's first impression is how young he is! I know he's probably much older than he appears. He's very professional, very compassionate and caring. His office staff is courteous and extremely easy to deal with. My biggest problem has been scheduling my follow up appointments. Since I live two states away it takes a lot of pre-planning. And the time seen is highly dependent on how his surgery schedule went that morning.

Aftercare is very important to him. My first follow-up appointment was 3 wk post-op, and I've been expected to see him at least quarterly for the first two years. When I had to cancel my 6 month appointment Dr. Kim personally called me to verify how I was doing. He emphasized how important it was to maintain contact with him and his office.

He was very thorough in addressing all surgical risks, explaining the procedure, and making sure my pre-op testing was thorough. I have nothing but praise for him and his entire office staff.

In my opinion bedside manner is nice, but you want competence more.

I haven't met the surgeon but I did have an excellent meeting with Dr. Booth who is the clinic director for LifeShape. I appreciated his "hold no punches" attitude. If there's anything I can't stand it's being treated as if I'm stupid -- something doctors are generally good at. I did not get that feeling at all with Dr. Booth. I'm now awaiting insurance approval.

I had my initial consult with Dr. Smith on January 12, 2001. I found him an informative and compassionate man. I feel like he has a real interest in bariatric surgery and helping the morbidly obese. However, his office staff leave something to be desired. Dr. Smith has gotten so busy, that the wait from consult to surgery is now at least 6 months, and may be longer.

I decided to check in with Dr. Booth in Ocean Springs, MS. I was able to get a date faster with Dr. Keith Kim in Dr. Booth's office. I'm switching switchin surgeons! My surgery date is June 19. I'll travel to MS on the 16th and prepare for my life change. I have not yet met Dr. Kim, but his office staff is wonderful, and I've heard very good things about him.

My official "switch" date got changed to June 20, 2001. I found Dr. Kim to be a very competent and caring surgeon. I'm glad I found him!

UPDATE -- I went back to Dr. Kim for my 3-month check-up on 9/20/01. He was very pleased with my progress and we set a tentative goal weight of 140. He says I'm a little ahead of schedule as far as the weight loss, but if I'm feeling good, that's ok. Some of my bloodwork was a little off, but he felt that could be rebounding from the surgery. We're gonna recheck at 6 months and I'll see him again at 9 months post-op. I still can't say enough good things about him. He's a caring man and obviously very skilled surgeon. Thanks, Dr. Kim, for giving me my life back.

Found out my surgeon will be Dr. Kim. He is in the Lifeshape group with Dr. Booth and Dr. Warden. I had met him at my support group back in February and he was the one I would hve chosen anyway. He is easy to talk to and answers all my questions without seeming to be in a hurry. I have total confidence in him and know I will be in good hands!
