Here's my story, I'm fat, end of story.....
No, seriously, I've been overweight since I was 8 years old. I've been up and I've been down. I would like to be somewhere in the middle and stay there. I have been on every diet you can name and some you've probably never heard of. I've always lost the weight and I've always put it back on and then some. I am a very outgoing person, so being overweight has not prohibited me from enjoying life. However, I would like to stop surviving to eat, and start eating to survive. Yes, I love food and it is my friend, lol.
I am healthy, but I would like to stay that way. I just turned 40 and I promised myself if I didn't lose my weight and keep it off by my 40th birthday, I would seek WLS. So on my birthday, I called Dr. Brolin and made my appointment. Unfortunately, things with Dr. Brolin didn't work out, as he didn't take my insurance. So I found Dr. Goyal and had my first appt with him on November 10, 2008. My weight started at 363 and my BMI was 58. (YIKES) Dr. Goyal asked me to lose weight before my surgery so as of February 20, 2009, I weigh 341. I have lost a total of 22lbs in preparation for my surgery.
My mother had RNY in 2003 and has lost 190 pounds. I have seen her journey and I am so proud of her and now I am ready to take mine.
I want to be healthy for me and for my family. I've been happily married for 12 years to my best friend. He has loved me through it all and I am so excited for him to see me turn into a beautiful butterfly. I am also a very proud mother of two. My daughter is 8 and my son is 6. Guess I can't blame the weight on the babies anymore! They are my reason for living. I am blessed to have a wonderful and supporting family.
When I told my daughter I was considering the surgery, she cried. She said, "mommy, you don't need to lose weight, you are perfect the way you are." I told her I want to stay healthy and live a long life. So hopefully, I am setting a good example for her.
I love hearing all of your stories, the good, the bad and the ugly. Feel free to pm me anytime.
