I visited Mischelle in the hospital today. She looked and felt much, much better she says. It appears the culprit is her spleen. It had an abcess, of infection which needed to be drained, on it. They drained off 8 oz. of pure infection. Mischelle said it was the foulest smelling stuff she has ever smelled before. Apparently though, the doctor who drained the abcess told her that this is common from having surgery. Not just WLS but any and all surgery. She also said that when they drained her lung, which happened to be fluid all from her spleen, they drained off 16 oz. of fluid. She said that was the most painful experience she ever had. She is still on the IV nutrition at least until tomorrow. They will be preforming another leak test in the morning to see if she has a leak or not. They are thinking "not" now that they know about the spleen. Still unsure on how long she will be in the hospital this go around. Hopefully though, this is her last time and she will just continue to heal and get on with the losing part of it. By the way, she says she has lost 35 lbs. so far. Way to go!!!! She did look so much better today than on Thursday (which was the last time I saw her).
