Evenin all. This is a first time angel touching down to ask ya all to send some good wishes Melissa's way. She will be flying from Wisconsin to Little Rock AR, June 29th, and will have surgery July 1. She will be staying at a hotel til July 8th. I believe Melissa is a very brave person. She is doing this on her own, unfortunately family can not accompany her. So lets as her AMOS family give her all our best. She does have an angel in Little Rock, who will be there for support. Amy you take care of our Melissa. Thanks everyone for your support.

Hi, Melissa: I just read your post and profile, and wanted to offer encouragement, as well as condolences on the loss of your mom. During surgery, I know she will be watching over you. Don't worry about what your friend said; some people never can say anything positive; always have to say something negative. She's probably just afraid for you and doesn't know anything about the surgery or it's success rate. If it weren't so close to your surgery date, I'd say to invite her to come to a support group with you. I agree with the other poster who said not to talk to her for about a month after surgery, then you can let her see for herself how great this is gonna be for you. If she's still negative after that, then she's not really a friend. Good luck on your surgery, and God Bless!

Melissa, Please stay away from people who doesn't have positive wishes for you. Your friend was very wrong to tell you about other peoples misfortunes. In my small small town. LOL, there was a young girl who died after her wls. NO one talked about the heart problems she had since she was a kid. They just wanted to dwell on wls killed her. The town was talking about it for a month. When I told my family during this same month about myself looking into getting it done. they came up with all kinds of negitive things to convince me not to do it. even one of my docs was negitive about it. But my mine was set. I have a hard head when my mind is set. LOL No one walks in my shoes. I need help and Im getting help. and I did. and Im very happy now. I have loss 106 lbs since 12/6/02 and have more to go. those same people who talked negitive are now the first ones who says I look great. So hang in there and continue to think positive, and forget about the ones who have negitive stories to tell. You don't need to hear them. Take care and stay focused~*~Hugs~*~

I just got back from support group, and they are the most wonderful, caring people I know. I hope you have a support group where you are, because they would tell you: DON'T LISTEN TO ANYONE BUT YOUR OWN HEART!!!! You are going to be just fine. If you take care of yourself and follow your doctor's directions there should be no reason to have even a slightly negative experience. I had surgery last Tues, went home Weds and back to work on Mon. I feel great and have lost 20 pounds. Just keep a positive attitude and don't listen to anyone who has NOT had the surgery. They don't know what they are talking about. You are the doing the right thing, my friend. Keep the faith!!

Hi Melissa- I tried to e mail you but it didn't go thru. I'd like to offer you my condolences on the loss of your mother. I just lost my dad in February and I know how rough it can be. I was reading your question about ankylolysing (sp?). My friend has ankylosing spondylosis (sp?) Have you found any good info about it? Any good treatments? She is having a hard time finding a lot of info. My son also has Autism. He is 11 years old, and the official dx is Aspbergers or PDD NOS, depending on which doctor we're seeing. If you have time to e mail back before your surgery, I'm at [email protected] or please feel free to e mail anytime after surgery as well if you'd like to talk. Best of luck with your big day. Loved the countdown clock :o) Take care, Mea
