It is not as bad as I thought it would be!!

Jan 08, 2012

Well I am now 10 days post op, and I want to share this blog with my Pre op friends:
While I am still a newbie, my surgery experience was not that bad at all. I was a little sore but the pain was bearable,When I came home which was only 2 days later(which they wanted to send me home the evening before), I only have used my liquid narcotic 3 times since I have been home, and that was at night. I have never been nauseus, vomited, or had constant diahreah. I was a lil constipated today , but I took a stool softener and that problem ended quickly. The only thing that really bothered me was the JP drain that was inserted in me until my 1 week pre op visit. After that came out I was able to drink faster, I have been consuming things of more substance ie: Refried beans, cream of wheat, cream soups, and Today I tried srambled eggs, with cheddar cheese on it, and some mushy Rappa Scrapple, YUmmy! So I take my time chewing, and I pay very close attention to my pouch, if it starts to feel a lil tight, I am burping, and I have even had my nose run on me yesterday while I was eating my cream of crab soup, All of these are signs that you are full! So I stop eating and push the food away. I still do my protein shakes, but since I am so early out I only try to do 1 mushy meal a day! According to my plan my puree meals start on this tuesday, but I have been doing pretty good on the small mushy meals and I just chew really well. I also have been every where moving around, playing dance 2 central on the Xbox connect (whoooo what a work out). I was scheduled to go back to work on Jan3oth, but the way I feel I will be back on Jan23rd, Because I am starting to get bored home already!! So far so good and Thank God for my RNY!!

1 week post op!!

Jan 05, 2012

1 week ago from today I was in the hospital having my RNY! Well I just came back from my surgeons office, and I am now down to 312lbs yayyyy. When I started this journey my weight was 338lbs. The day of my surgery I was 316lbs, and with the water gain from my surgery--- I am now down to 312lbs I will take it, and I am so proud of my self. My surgeon also got rid of my lil friend Jackson and Paul "JP drain", OHHHHH WHAT A REL IF!! That drain was really weighing me down bad enough we already don't have that much space in our stomach as it is, but with that tube in it was so nagging and sometimes painful. It was hard bending over, I had to make sure that the tube was not dragging, and sometimes it would cause awful stomach cramps ughhh!! Well immediately after the nurse took it out I felt like I could drink more, and I definitely need more fluids which is my goal for today. My surgeon also said that I can start exercising today, so I got the Xbox connect with dance central 2 and that is going to be my friend. Well to all of my pre op friends when The Veterans say " hang in there it will get better"and it does.....While I still have a long way to go--I sure do feel better than what I did 7days ago!!

Home from the hospital!!

Dec 31, 2011

Well it is New Years Eve and I am home with a small pouch. So happy that the surgery is over with---now the healing process. It was hard to get my fluids in while I was in the hospital, and I guess it was due to the Iv fluids making me feel full and bloated.  So I came home this morning, and got myself settled, so far I drank 20z of aquafina flavored water, 1 sugar free jello, 1 Popsicle, and 1-8 oz of isopure. So I think I am doing pretty good, I am just trying to stay moving, and drinking so that I won't get hydrated. I feel a lil sore and tired, so I took 2 crushed up Tylenol to help ease the pain, and later on before I go to sleep I will take the prescribed liquid narcotic. I got to blow in that air thing they give you after surgery--it helps exercise your lungs, and it helps prevents pneumonia( boy is that hard it seems like I get short of breath really quick, and I did not have this problem pre op) They wanted to discharge me last nite, but the pharmacy had closed and I would not have my pain meds, so I asked if I could stay until the morning. Well I am happy to be home, and Happy New Years Oh family be blessed, and as soon as I start healing I will feel alot better!

TODAY IS THE DAY!!

Dec 28, 2011

Today is my surgery day, and I am ready to get this over with! My hubby is up and already attending to my needs, my 12yr old daughter is asking me all kinds of questions, and is begging to go with us (but I know she will be bored sitting in the waiting room) so my mom is coming over and is going to bring her up before I go in to surgery. I love my mom and she said that we are going to do a prayer before surgery. My 18 yr old son, said he don't want to come to the hospital and see me looking sick, I think that boy is so self centered (cute, but self centered and the world revolves around KING D.J.) I am so thankful that god blessed me with both of my children but really happy that he sent me a loving and caring daughter, she is so thoughtful, and has a heart of gold. Well I am all packed and I am ready!! Thanks again for all the prayers and support! I love you guys!

Surgery eve

Dec 27, 2011

Well today is the day before my surgery, and I am super duper nervous, but I am truly excited to be on my way to a healthier life!  I was suppose to work today, but I decided to stay home, and have a day by myself to rest and pack up for the hospital! Back in August me and my family moved in to an apartment, and I had to give my dog away---she is a beautiful pitbull! We are so attached to her, she stays with my cousins who live in PA and she is doing very well with them. So yesterday I took my 12yr old daughter to visit her as  A suprise Christmas gift! my daughter was soooo happy, and she told me that----"this was the best Christmas gift ever mommy!!" I was determined to drive up PA to see her before I went in to surgery, and mission accompolished! Ok sorry back to the story---I have been on clear liquids since yesterday, and I have been drinking water with special k protien mix in it and crystal light, decaf tea, jello, and broth, but my head hurts this morning, ugghhh! I am going to try and keep myself busy so that I won't think about food! Well family please pray for me an wish me the best! I love you guys!

It is almost my big day!!

Dec 25, 2011

I am starting to get nervous about this. I am staying positive and optimistic about the whole thing! God has me in his hands, and I know that everything will be alright! I think my hubby is a lil scared too. I keep telling him that everything will be ok! I tell him all of the positive stories about this surgery, not the negative ones ( I don't want to make him scared lol)! I am so blessed to have such a supportive family, and my mom and husband will be with me every step of the way! I love my family, and most of all I love all of you guys ---My support group here on Obesity Help is the best, because you guys know exactly what it takes, and what I am getting ready to go threw! So once again OH I salute you!!
