4 Months Post-Op
Dec 11, 2007
Lost 46 lbs….only 1 fill. I am basically losing weight as a result of my own effort right now. The only time I remember I have a band is when I eat really fast or too much at one time. Strangely, I feel a slight pain in my right shoulder. I exercise daily after I wake up with the Leslie Sansone 3 mile Walk DVD. I try to watch my carbs and continue to avoid soda altogether. I weigh myself every 2 weeks and if I gain a pound I work really hard to get it off. My new clothes I purchased less than 3 months ago are staring to get loose…this is the only downsize to weight loss. I may get a fill in the next couple of months if my weight loss slows down.

1st Fill
Aug 31, 2007
I went for my first fill yesterday. Weird experience, but not too painful. The doctor's assistant said he was going to add 1.5 cc to my 9.75 band (I think), but then only added 1 cc since I already had 0.2 cc in it. Total saline fluid 1.22 cc. I'm down 20 lbs and he said I was way ahead of schedule on the weight loss but I wish I had lost more. I really need to concentrate on healthier foods and exercising daily.
Surgery Completed!!!
Aug 03, 2007
Surgery was completed on 7/30/07. I arrived at the hospital at 7am and the procedure was scheduled for 9a. I lost 11lbs on the pre-op diet! Woohoo!!! I was put to put to sleep and I remember waking up and trying to remove my breathing mask. Someone (maybe the doctor) told me not to remove it and let me know the surgery was over. I had no idea I would be in so much pain! My abdomen was really sore but the majority of the main was in my left shoulder and chest area. The recovery nurse said it was actually gas and that during the surgery the anesthesiologist pumps you full of air so the doctor can see better. When I got home I drink water, soup, and eat popsicles. Just waiting for the pain to go away and taking liquid elixir throughout the day. No nausea or vomiting at all since the surgery so that's a plus. I spent the next couple of days at home. My stomach growls occasionally but that's because it's mostly empty. I noticed it's not as bad before surgery where I broke down and ate real food. I am so sick of eating soup, yogurt, popsicles, and pudding that I'll just stop eating and drink water or crystal light. I went back to work on 8/3/07 and most of the gas pains are gone and my abdomen is still a little sore. My post-op visit is on 8/7/07 where I will have the staples removed. I hope to have lost another 5lbs. My goal is 10lbs per month. That may be extreme but I don't think it's impossible. I've never had a problem losing weight, just keeping it off. Hopefully the lap band will help me change my eating habis for the rest of my life....Here we go!

Saw Dr. Maese for a cardiac clearance. Lots of needle sticks and I had to walk on a treadmill for a full 8 minutes! Did not pass out but I wanted to. LOL!

Surgery approved! I went in to see Dr. Barker for the 2nd consultation and to get a surgery date. It is scheduled for 7/20/07 at the Surgery Center of Dallas. I am so excited. I have an endoscopy scheduled for 6/23/07.

Start of pre-op liquid diet. I didn’t think I would make it but after a few days my body was use to liquids only and the stomach finally stopped growling. I am very weak and all I want to do when I get home from work is lie down. Think I better add more protein to the diet.

The day before my surgery I received a call from the doctor's office and I'm told the facility will not be covered by my insurance and I'm told if I have the procedure there I will pay out of network cost. I was given the next available date for a location within my network which is 7/30/07. Back to the liquid diet. I am quite frustrated at this point but on a good note I have lost some weight. I can’t find a scale but my clothes are looser and a few people remarked that I looked as if I had lost some weight. 7 days to go….
