Surgery Cancelled Oct 20

I was really upset that I got a call and they told me that my surgery was canceled. They said that they made a mistake and did not get approval from my primary insurance.
In the very beginning I told them that my DH's insurance was my primary and that medicare is my secondary. I got a call and the lady in the surgeons office said that it was the other way around that my medicare was my primary. Well guess what I was right in the first place. So I was very angry. They should have listened to me in the first place.
Well the more I thought about it I thought that everything happens for a reason.
I had found out that my sister in law was diagnosed with breast cancer and is having surgery Oct 30. So it was important that we be there for her and not taking care of me.
So this was a very good thing that it was canceled.

Pre Op Diet

I started my 2 week pre-op diet and the first day was fine. The second day we ended up having dinner 2 hrs early so last night I got real hungry but I did not give in, the old me would have, I would have said it will not hurt me just this once but I said what is more important eating something or having this surgery, of course I said the surgery is far more important so I drank some tea instead. Today is day 3 and I am doing pretty good I found out that crushing ice helps make the protein shakes thicker and taste better. I also figured if I get hungry again I can have chicken broth which is considered a liquid not food. I have heard it helps.
Surgery Scheduled

I am scheduled for my surgery Oct 21, 2008 at 10:00am, and I am just so excited. I can hardly wait till I am out and in recovery. Because that means I will be on my way to a brand new me. When I sit here and think about it I get tears in my eyes because of how happy I am. I know that I will be finally able to lose this weight once and for all.

Well I had my first consult and it was not what I expected but that is ok. I can have my NUT and Psych evals where I live. But I have to have a Dr supervised 3 month weight loss attempt. The sad thing is there is a waiting list and it looks like the earliest that I can have the surgery will be Jan 09. Of course I will take it. I will be seeing the NUT on Friday July 11. Cool. I also started the WL with my PCP last week. I still have not got my diabetes under control. The Dr gave me a new med to take I took it yesterday for the first time and with in 4 hrs my glucose dropped to 118, I started shaking real bad it scared me. I ate a piece of candy it helped a little I went home and had lunch and felt alot better.

I got a call from the Dr's office I am scheduled for Tue July 1, 2008 for my consultation. I am expecting a call on Monday to schedule my NUT consult. I can hardly wait till all this proceed's and I get my surgery date.
Information Seminar

June 19, 2008, I went to the informational seminar it was full of information some I already knew and some I did not know. It really helped me to choose which surgery I wanted.I am going to have the Roux-en-y (RNY). I met the surgeon and he was funny and seemed to really care. The DR's office will be calling next week to set my one-on-one with the Dr. Coates and also set up my Psych and Nut appointments. They said when I have all of my paperwork and appointments complete that the surgery could happen within 6 to 8 weeks. I could have it around my birthday. What a great gift that would be.
