Tomorrow afternoon is Liz's surgery. Let's wish her smooth sailing. She has the same surgeon as I had in June (I recommended Dr. Reines because he's wonderful) and I know she is in good hands. Good luck to everyone having surgery this week and good luck Liz. You'll do great! Renee Desrosiers

Congradulations on your efforts and cudos on your bravery. We are so close in height and size, I'm in process of getting this done as well. Bless you has you forge forward for a better life. Elizabeth, what you're feeling is normal. I was on an emotional roller coaster right before and AFTER my surgery. It's scary - you could die from surgery - but what calmed me down was knowing that I was going to have surgery to LIVE a normal life. I reasoned that "people die everyday". I was so stressed about it that I had my doctor give me some "nerve calming pills" and it really helped. I had surgery 6 months ago and am down over 80 lbs - I would do it again in a heartbeat. It's hard sometimes, but you'll make it - just follow the advice of your doctor and you'll be fine. GOOD LUCK! ~J

Hi, Elizabeth: Congratulations on your surgery date! Yes, it's perfectly normal to feel scared, anxious, excited, petrified, and everything else all at the same time! Let me tell you, though, that the fear of living in the pain and despair that I was in was greater than the fear of surgery to me. I'm on my way to diabetes; I have hyper and hypoglycemia, my grandma has severe type 2 uncontrolled diabetes and I have watched her slowly declining over the years. In my opinion, it's a slow death. She's only 72 years old and is in a nursing home because she has already had to have one leg amputated. Let me tell you, that puts the fear of God into me right there. I also have other problems that were just not going to go away unless I took some drastic measures to decrease my weight and improve my health. I'm happy to say now that I'm 13 days out and am down 19 lbs. I feel better than I have in at least 5 years. Good luck, sweetie, and God Bless!

Try to do something that will get your mind off of the negitive things. Have you shopped for your after care supplies. and planned where you will be recovering in your home? you will be just fine. hang in there hon and God Bless you. Take care**Hugs**</b>

Elizabeth, I'm 6 days post-op & it is normal to be scared. I kept trying to think positive & about the future if I don't get surgery. Everyone is different in pain tolerance & keep in mind each day you'll feel better. I hope everything turns out better than you expect. God Bless. Vicki V.
