Denise, I have edema in my legs causing them to swell. I am worried about the possibility of blood clots.When I was at a support meeting, I was able to ask my surgeon about this. He told me that yes, my legs were at risk. He stated that he would insert the filter in me a week prior to the wls, in a simple precedure. He said the filter opens up inside me like an umbrella and catches the blood clots in its tiny fine screen. He said it was harmless to remain in me the rest of my life.I was happy to hear of this precaution and will definitely do it.I don't get alot of exercise and I know that has an impact on the outcome. I plan on walking as much as possible in the hospital.This is this girl's opinion.Leslie E.

Denise, I bought a set of scales through the internet. They are the same ones my Dr. used in his office. I bought them from the Tanita Corp.They were shipped direct to me through UPS. I have been really happy with them. I think they go to 450 lbs. I have to tell you they weren't cheap. But I really needed them. So I made the investment. Congratulations on having a date for your surgery. I am still getting my preop tests done. I just went to my first support meeting Sat and I had such a good time. I learned so much and it was so much fun being with others who had the same interest. I wish you the best of luck. By the way, I really enjoyed the poem on your notes.Leslie Elwood.

Dear Denise...........Hi! I'm so glad to hear about your quiting smoking. Congratulations to you. The year 2003 will see big wonderful healthy changes in you. I'm so excited for you. You will be able to no longer be afraid of the effects of diabetes. This is the very best way to control it through weight loss. I haven'[t heard from you for a while but will be looking forward to reading your progress after December. I'm doing fine and my fasting blood sugar is still reading as 90 so I'm thrilled about that.
