Now it has been over two years since surgery.  I lost 50 lbs before surgery on 1000 cal day diet & then more than 85 since then.  Feeling great & so happy I did surgery.  It would have taken so much longer to get this weight off & my kidneys were going downhill fast.  This past February I had to have a revision.  Went in to have gallbaldder removed cause not functioning well but Dr. Garth Davis found a perforated ulcer in my pouch & twisted intestines so he did a revision of the RNY & untwisted everything & left gallbaldder because of side effects.  So now we watch the gallbladder.  Lost some more pounds after that surgery.  Then had major surgery in June to reshape right kidney & that took time to get over.  Now I feel good & looking forward to better & longer life.  May God be with all of you on this journey.

Surgery was Nov. 4 and went fairly well.  There was some problems with my temperature, blood pressure & kidney function but it all worked out with 2 days in ICU & 1 in a regular room.  I went in at 251 and today at my internist's weighed 231.  Yea.  Thanks for all the support & prayers.  My best wishes to all others on this road to better health.  My internist was really pleased today.  My kidney function had really improved & blood sugars too.

October 17, 2008   Finally got new surgery date---Nov. 4.  Have to go for another pre-op visit Oct. 21, just next week & have to begin liquid shakes Oct. 20.  Hope they don't find anything else this time to put this off anymore.  I had almost given up & thought about not having the surgery, then started to gain a few pounds, so kept calling surgeon after I thought they had recovered from Hurricane Ike.  Hooray!!!Thanks for all your support & info.  May God bless all those on this journey.

Well, I am on hold now.  Started liquid shakes Jul 28, did pre-op Jul 31, & got called Aug 6 that clotting factor not right & surgery canceled til see hematologist & get clearance.  Another trip to Houston to see doc.  Said more tests, not sure, start back on liquid shakes & maybe surgery last wk Aug.  Surgeon has not called yet though.  So I drink my shakes & hope & pray for best.  Continuing to lose some weight.  Have lost more than 30 pounds since saw surgeon April 18 so that's good news.  More later.
