******* HAPPY RE-BIRTHDAY ******** WOW....is it possible that a year has passed so quickly??? first of all......LIZA BRANCH, Congratulations on your one year anniversary.you look beautiful and have done an awesome job! I am pleased to share the same re-birthday with you!! I started this journey with a few complications after surgery, but got through them and would do this all over again in a heartbeat!! To date, I have last 187lbs and have never felt better in my life! I am so active today compared to last year at this time.........I read almost everyday in here, but I don't post often anymore, as I feel it is important for the new posties and the pre-ops to post and 'talk' and I don't have much to add, I guess.......I love to read and share with you all, whether it be success's or disappointments, it is fun to be part of all of the journies.........for all the others that share this re-birthday of August 2, congratulations to you all! May God Bless and Keep you all!! Kari

CONGRATULATIONS!!! You must be so HAPPY!! You sound like you are on cloud nine. My surgery is on December 6 and i am very scared. Reading your post(even though it brought tears to my eyes) made me very happy.. Best wishes with your new outlook on life. Sincerey Lisa Miniutti (Maine)

Kari is now home in Redmond. I spent some time with her on Sunday and while she looks really good and is getting around really well, she was VERY depressed. I encouraged her to begin to drink her protein, mixed up a helping, and sat with her as she drank it. We talked and laughed, then she needed to rest so I left. This morning she called me at work and she sounds so much more like herself that I almost cried. She's been drinking the protein drinks and feels so much better now! She still gets sick occasionally, but she's convinced that as she gets further and further away from her surgery date this will occur less and less. Unfortunately, while Kari was out having surgery a virus ate her computer, so she's temporarily without the benefit of being able to read the message board on a daily basis. She's scheduled to come back to work on 9/17 so still has time to get acquainted with her new tummy. Thank you to all of you who took the time to post good wishes and prayers to Kari's surgery page -- this is an incredible support system and I know Kari is eternally grateful to all of you. Tuesday 8/14/01 Angel Here....Update on Karen Story who had an open RNY on 8/02/01. She finally is going to her Mom's in Salem and getting out of the hospital. She is so ready! they removed the staples and took out her tube...She said that was fun!... Her leak test yesterday was an experience and she lost the Baruim stuff practically in their laps...Ha...when we say we have to throw up....they better listen...Right Kari? She will be with her mom for the rest of the week and then home...Yea.. We miss her... See you soon Kari...Love Ya...Lonna from Bend Oregon

Oops - forgot to change the box to indicate this was an update, so it got posted to Kari's surgery page but not to anyone else. Here's what I wrote: Just spoke with Kari - she sounds so good, but it looks like the doctor will keep her in the hospital until Sunday or Monday. Her doctor is very pleased with the results of the tests and everything she's been through so far, but he just wants to be cautious. Kari's getting back to her old self - had a nurse with an attitude this morning and she simply was not going to put up with that. Now when that nurse comes into her room she's simply going to ask her to send someone else in....that's the Kari I know and love! Hopefully Kari will be back on "food" again within the next couple of days - the doctor thinks there may have been a small leak that has healed itself since she's been off food, but again - he just wants to be sure that everything is as it should be before he lets her go home. Thanks again for all the kind words and prayers posted to her surgery page -- they really mean a lot! Hugs and blessings to all -
