Well, after "hounding" my insurance company for weeks, I have been told that I have been refused, once again! How absolutely frustrating! Now they claim that the appeal letter doesn't have the right height! I am soooo tired of this insurance battle! I would NEVER, EVER recommend Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Missouri to ANYONE!! The only thing that you get from them is a run-around and when you persist, they make a decision....but not the right one! I am sorry, I just got off work; my legs hurt, my back hurts and my acid reflux is getting the better of me. I can't imagine why I feel I would benefit from this surgery. I feel about whipped by all this! I suppose that is what the insurance company aims for. If I give up the fight, they wouldn't have to pay! How lame! Meanwhile, good luck and God Bless those of you who have been fortunate enough to have been approved and on their way to 'the losing side'!!

I am getting very frustrated. The lady at the insurance office, said that they would know in two days. That was Tuesday! I called this evening and she said....oh they haven't finished reviewing your appeal yet! Don't count on BC/BS of Missouri to get in a hurry!! Oh well, I have been going through 'the loops' since September. I guess a couple of days more won't hurt me. I just have an intense desire to be 'on the losing side'!

I'm wishing you a successful surgery and a quick, easy recovery. I had my open RNY on Dec. 10, 2001 and I'm very happy that I did. It truly was the best thing I could have done for myself. God bless you as you begin your new, healthier life.

I found out this afternoon that the appeal letter from Dr. Fabito's office was received by BC/BS on 2/13/02. They had told me last week that they didn't have them yet. The lady asked me if I wanted them to forward the papers to the review board....like what else would I want done with them?!? Anyway, I was told that I would hear something from them within two days...we'll see! Those reading this....your prayers will be greatly appreciated!

I have spent most of the afternoon on the phone with Ida (Dr. Fabito's nurse) and Blue Cross/Blue Shield. Dr. Fabito's office has not sent in the appeal yet!! I couldn't believe it! I was so disheartened to hear that. However, I decided to call BC/BS and see if they had gotten MY letter requesting the details of their refusal. A lovely lady named Marsha HUNTED it down, as well as the specifics for refusing to pre-cert. Believe it or not, I didn't meet their weight limit - back in September. I have, at this point, surpassed that weight with a few pounds to spare. So, I got their fax number and Ida said that their office will fax AND snail mail the appeal with the CORRECT weight on it! I am almost afraid to hope!! PLEASE, anyone reading this, send up some prayers for me!! Hope that the next time that I post here, I will have a new surgery date!!
