Hi girl, I just wanted to tell you that I had the DS, and am doing well, and so is practically every person I know who has had it...in fact, I can't think of anyone who isn't doing well...you will be fine...you will succeed...I just wanted to say that to you... I am 1 year out, have lost 110 pounds and life is grand. Don't let anyone tell you that the DS is more awful, horrible, etc...it isn't...we just mush be compliant with our vitamins (and we tend to take much less of them compared to RNY'ers) and our calcium and protein... YOU WILL SUCCEED!

Thanks for the encouragement Michelle. You are going to be 13 days ahead of me with Dr. Gonzales. I will be praying for you. I have you on my computer and it will remind me to send up prayers throughout the day on the 7th. Dr. G is a great doc. You are in good hands. Best of luck. Please let us know how you are doing. Dearest Michelle... WAY TO GO!! CONGRADS ON YOUR UP COMING SURGERY. I pray for your complete surgery success and full speedy recovery on May 7th. all my thoughts and prayers will be with you. This is the beginning of your new life and all will be well for you. I am sure. God is faithful to keep you, and angels will encamp themselves around you and hold you in a blanket of complete and awesome love as only they can! I will probably not get the chance to meet you when I come to NC in May, but I will be back, and then we will meet for sure,love! Michelle, I read your post about the bathtub issue. Most always after someone has surgery with one or more incisions, you cannot take a bath, swim, hot tub, etc. The risk of infection is too high. As a nurse, I recommend that my patients get a chair to put in the tub with a spray attachment or to take sink baths. Do not immerse yourself or your incision in water unless your surgeon gives you the go ahead. Even when one is allowed to shower after surgery, they are instructed not to let the water directly spray on their incision and to keep their back (if they have an abdominal incision) to the water.
