Michelle, May your surgery uneventful and your recovery swift! I'll be joining you "Getting Swtiched" in August. Be sure to post to the message board when you are feeling better. Remember to put that you had DS when you post- It helps so much to see how others are doing!

Hi girl, I just wanted to tell you that I had the DS, and am doing well, and so is practically every person I know who has had it...in fact, I can't think of anyone who isn't doing well...you will be fine...you will succeed...I just wanted to say that to you... I am 1 year out, have lost 110 pounds and life is grand. Don't let anyone tell you that the DS is more awful, horrible, etc...it isn't...we just mush be compliant with our vitamins (and we tend to take much less of them compared to RNY'ers) and our calcium and protein... YOU WILL SUCCEED!

Thanks for the encouragement Michelle. You are going to be 13 days ahead of me with Dr. Gonzales. I will be praying for you. I have you on my computer and it will remind me to send up prayers throughout the day on the 7th. Dr. G is a great doc. You are in good hands. Best of luck. Please let us know how you are doing. I will be watching closely. God Bless!

Michelle, I read your post about the bathtub issue. Most always after someone has surgery with one or more incisions, you cannot take a bath, swim, hot tub, etc. The risk of infection is too high. As a nurse, I recommend that my patients get a chair to put in the tub with a spray attachment or to take sink baths. Do not immerse yourself or your incision in water unless your surgeon gives you the go ahead. Even when one is allowed to shower after surgery, they are instructed not to let the water directly spray on their incision and to keep their back (if they have an abdominal incision) to the water. Hope this information helps you and good luck!
