Georgetown Community Hospital (COE) Hospital

Overall, my stay in this hospital was as good as I could have hoped for. Only one night did I have problems. I had to call the nurse three times over a period of 45 minutes to try to stop my IV from beeping. She was in and out of the room every 45 minutes doing something, and I got very little sleep. Needless to say, that didn't help my nerves :) Everyone was very sympathetic however, and I understand the need for frequent checks after such a major surgery. It did make me happy to be coming home to a quiet house, lol.

I had a great experience with Georgetown Hospital. It's a small hospital, but It seemed to have everything you would possibly need. The staff was great. After leaving intensive care, they try to get you into a private room, which I loved. If I needed anything, it didn't take any time at all to get attention. My family has even commented on how nice and helpful the staff was to them when they came to visit. It's a far cry from the hospital experiences that I have had in the past.

Other than one incident I would rate this hospital better than any big city hopital I've ever experienced. ALL the staff were very nice and competent. My family even noticed how friendly everyone was. The night I spent in ICU was not very restful because the nurses were so loud, but it was okay. I had a horrible experience the last night of my stay. My IV went bad and it took 5 hours and 5 different people sticking me to get it back in. I was in so much pain I was shaking the bed. They finally gave me a shot while still trying to get the IV in and it helped some. There were few nurses available at the time because of an emergency, we were told. I can't believe it took just about every nurse in that hosptial to help with the emergency.
