Froedtert & The Medical College of Wisconsin Hospital

I had open surgery on June 29, 2001. The surgery was supposed to last about 3 hours. It lasted 7 1/2. I had complications from a previous surgery and radiation. I feel I was very fortunate to be there, to have Dr. Wallace, and the nursing staff. They were wonderful!!!!! The patients have a web site we would like all to come to. The address is http://supportgroup.no-ip.com Hope to see you there!

Everything was great except some members of the nursing staff weren't the greatest. In the course of a couple days, I was amazed at how many nurses I had...and most weren't even nurses but CNAs or nursing students. The nurses were definitely a low point of the whole process.
Also, housekeeping didn't come once in my 3-night stay and I had my period so the wastebasket was full of dirty menstrual pads. Sorry to be gross - but it really was gross and I finally had to request that housekeeping come and clean my room.

Most of the nursing staff & other technical staff was wonderful & respectful of me as a person. As much as possible when you are in a hospital, I had a very good experience & wouldn't hesitate to go back. I have made committments to come back & visit several of my nurses to let them know how I'm doing - they got that personally involved in my life & my health in just a few days.
