William Norwood Bariatric Surgeon M.D.

I have only met Dr. Norwood once and that was for my consultation. He was very nice and informative. Very blunt too, no beating around the bush and I like that. I feel very confident in him.

My first impression of Dr. Norwood was good. I still have the same impression after surgery. The hospital that I stayed in couldn't have been a better place. All of the staff were very friendly, went above and beyond to take care of me.

Dr. William Norwood, Shreveport, LA. Very informative and staff most helpful with questions and advise. I plan on attending the "stapleline" club meetings held monthly and following the aftercare program to the best of my ability. The risks of surery have been discussed with me by the staff as well as Dr. Norwood. I would like to refrain from rating Dr. Norwood and I will know more after I have my surgery which is scheduled in a couple of weeks.

ME AND MY SISTER, MY AUNT, AND MY COUSIN ALL USED DR NORWOOD. WE HAD A VBG, ALL WITH IN A WEEKS TIME. HE AND HIS STAFF ALL MADE A GOOD FIRST TIME INPESSION. ALTHOUGH MY EXPEREANCE HASNT BEEN THE SAME AS THEM (can eat any way and anything i want) NOW I DONT KNOW WHAT IM GOING TO DO ABOUT IT. THE DRS OFFICE IS BLAMING ME BECAUSE I TOLD THEM IM FALLING INTO OLD HABBITS, I GO FOR A XRAY 1-16-03. THEN I WILL KNOW MORE. AFTERCARE HAS BEEN OK. THEY TOLD ME ABOUT THEIR SUPPORT GROUP,BUT REALLY DIDNT ENCOURAGE ME TO GO. I HAVE MISSED SOME FOLLOW UPS AND NOTHING WAS SAID. DR NORWOODS BEDSIDE MANNER WAS BETTER THAN WHAT I WAS USE TO FROM WHERE I LIVE. LIKE I SAID HE HAS BEEN OK. BUT I AM FACEING A CHALENGE AHEAD.

FRIENDLY NOT IN A HURRY TO GET THRU WITH ME AND GO TO THE NEXT.I CAME TO REALLY LIKE HIM ,HE WAS THERE FOR ME THRU EVERYTHING.HE WAS NEVER IN A RUSH HE TALKED TO ME.ALWAYS UPBEAT.HE WAS THERE TO HELP ME AND THAT WAS DIFFERENT.HIS STAFF IS THE BEST THE COULD EVER BE.JACKIE HIS NURSE I LOVE HER SHE IS THE BEST FRIENDLY KNOWS WHO YOU ARE WHEN YOU COME IN THE OFFICE.NAN IS GREAT SHE ALWAYS GIVES ME A LIFT UP AND SHE PROBLY DOES NOT KNOW SHE IS EVEN DOING IT.I LIKED EVERYTHING ABOUT HIM,WOULD NEVER GO ANYWHERE ELSE.HE WILL BE THERE FOR YOU, EVEN AFTER YOU GO HOMEYOU JUST HAVE TO CALL AND SOMEONE IS THERE FOR YOU.VERY MUCH ON AFTERCARE.WEEKLY CHECK UPS.VERY MUCH STRUCTURED AFTER CARE PROGRAM.HIM AND HIS STAFF ARE THERE FOR YOU ALL THE WAY.HE TOLD ME THE RISKS HE LEFT NOTHING OUT HE GOES OVER EVERYTHING WITH YOU.
HOW WOULD I RATE HIM AS THE BEST OUT THERE. I CAN NOT THINK OF ANYTHING I WOULD CHANGE ABOUT ANY OF IT.DR. NORWOOD HAS IT ALL BEDSIDE MANNER SURGICAL COMPETENCE HE IS THE GREATEST OUT THERE.I HAVE TO TELL YOU I FOUND NO PROBLEMS .THE STAFF DR.NORWOOD I KNOW SOME PEOPLE MIGHT HAVE PROBLEMS. BUT I DID NOT.IT HAS BEEN THE ONE GREATEST THING THAT I COULD HAVE EVER DONE FOR ME

When I went in for my consultation, I had to wait on him to get there, and when I finally met him, I seemed a little bit rushed out.

I haven't met him again, but I did like his staff for the most part.

I would say they were very cooperative and pleasant.

He did emphasize the after care a lot. From the food I'd be eating to the nutrionist and support groups.

It seems very structured.

He just listed the risks, and If I had a specific question, he answered. I wish I had more questions at the time. So I would have more answers now.

Overall, so far, I'd give him..... a 5 on a 10 scale.

They are both great, but being surgically competent does slightly exceed bedside manners importance.

He was very nice he gave me lost of infomation pros and cons .I think that he is a very good doctor. He office staff was very nice and helpful. He made it known that you must have aftercare it was very importan. He went over the risks of the surgery. overall I give him a 8.5

Lets you know that it is major surgery and shouldn't be taken lightly. He explains the risks in layman's terms.

He performed my gall bladder surgery in 1996.His surgical skills and bedside manner are both great. He is a fine doctor.He will take time with you and answer any of your questions. You don't feel like you are being rushed off.

Actually I met with Dr James Shamblin, M.D., F.A.C.S.. Dr Norwood is taking over Dr Shamblin's practice. Dr Shamblin will be overseeing things until he retires completely. I was very impressed with my visit. Dr Shamblin was very informative, was patient with all my questions. I was most impressed with their aftercare program. That was something I had seen a lack of while researching other physicians. His office staff is very friendly and helpful, even over the phone before I even had my appt.
