William Norwood Bariatric Surgeon M.D.

Dr. Norwood is not only a gifted surgeon, but he really cares about his patients and is available at any time to offer advice, encouragement or just simply to answer questions. I can not think of another Doctor who has personally returned my calls and makes his cell number available to his patients.
Not only is he a caring surgeon, but his entire office staff along with his wife and nurse practitioner, Jennifer Norwood go out of their way to ensure to make you feel welcome and cared about.
Thank you Dr. Norwood for saving my life!

My first impression of Dr. Norwood was that he was a very straight forward person. My impressions did not change at all. The office staff is always nice and very helpful. I don't think that there is anything so far that I don't like about Dr. Norwood. He emphasized that aftercare was very important. He let me know that the surgery was only a tool to help me lose weight and that if I followed the aftercare instructions then I would lose the weight. Dr. Norwood went over all of the risk of surgery and if anyone had any questions or doubts he addressed them. He wanted us to understand exactly what we were getting into. I would rate him as and excellent doctor. I would reccomend him to anyone interest in this type of surgery. I wholly believe that surgical competence is the biggest thing that I look at when looking for a doctor and a great bedside manner doesn't hurt!!! rnrnP.S. Dr. Norwood was available to me even during the holidays when I had a problem and he fixed the problem as soon as he could.

I hear Dr. Norwood is the best. He was very nice, and very thorough. He and his wife work as a team. Not to say he is not patient but she made me feel very confortable!! The staff was great. In fact, some of them even had WLS so they were able to tell me first hand what to expect. He provides lots of after care. His after care is set up for 3 years, he also has support group meeting which I hear are great. So far I would give him a 10

Dr. Norwood is a great loving and caring doctor. I knew he was the right doctor for my WLS, just by the way he introduced himself and the warm welcome he gave me. He has great bedside manners and a great sense of humor. If there is any problem he is there to help in a nick of time. He really cares about his patients overall health and well being. I would recommend Dr. Norwood to anyone I know. Doctor explained everything he was going to do and did not leave anything out. Some doctor offices you go in and they talk for such a short time and you can tell they are rushing to get on to the next patient, but Dr. Norwood took his time and explained everything. I was so scared at first, but after leaving his office I felt so confident and so ready to make a major change in my life. I have so much respect for this man and there is nothing I have negative to say about him or his staff. They are all wonderful people.

my first impression of dr norwood was great ... it still is ... his offcie and staff were all extremely helpful and all very nice. I have nothing negative to say of dr norwood ... he definetly stresses the importance of aftercare and his after care program so far seems very detailed nad nice.rnrnoverall he is a great doctor/surgeonrnsurgical competence and bedside manner are A ++++

Dr.Norwood is very up front and straight forward about what he can do for you. This is not a surgery that makes you loose weight you actually have to adhere to the diet and excerise program or it wont work....he says it's not an easy out and its not. It's challenging and hard but it's worth it.My impression of him has'nt changed he's still awesome. The office staff is great one of the ladies has had the surgery and she helps me understand alot of the things I dont get!
Dr.Norwood says you must make every appt to keep up to date on your diet and work out program plus the ladies in the office give you all the encouragement in the world. There's nothing about Dr.Norwood I dont like. The after care program is very structured. I was told about all the risks of surgery but he did'nt terrify me like another doctor had done. I would rate Dr.Norwood and his staff a 10 and his all around manner is wonderful. I would recommend him to anyone, anywhere.

I really like Dr. Norwood, he is a very laid back doctor and makes sure you are really interested in the surgery. I really like his staff as well, I called with a million questions before surgery and they were very willing to help me. They made me feel very comfortable about my decision as well. Dr. Norwood also puts an emphasis on aftercare, it is very helpful to be successful in your weight loss journey! He has a schedule for you after your surgery and it is important that you make all of your appointments, plus it gives you something to look forward to, I get excited at each appointment, I love to hear I have LOST weight!!!! I would choose Dr. Norwood again if I had to have the surgery again, he is great!

Hello friends! Dr. Norwood at BSC in Shreveport is my surgeon. At first I thought he was in a hurry to get me in and out. He settled in and answered my questions and really warmed up when he saw how committed I am. His staff is INCREDIBLE! I like the way he is very to the point and honest. I wish he would take more time with me during our visits because this is a major decision. He really focused on compliance being mandatory for success. He has a structured 5 year follow up plan. He did address all the risks. I would rate him an overall 10. He personally returned my message on Labor Day because I had some concerns about congestion in my chest.

My first impression was he was so fast and did he really care about me when he would run in and out of my room so quickly. Then I went to my first monthly gathering for wieght loss surgery patients. I was amazed when both he and his wife were there. They actually took the time to come to the monthly meetings to be with us just like a part of the group. I knew then he did care and it wasnt just the buck. His office staff is caring and works hard to help you achieve your goals. When you miss your appointments they call to check up on you and try to get you back in. A good team to be with.

Dr. Norwood was very to the point and covered all aspects of the surg. I really didnt have many questions after he explained the procedure and all that goes on pre op and post op. After surg. I have no complaints he was very attentive. His office staff are the greatest , very friendly and show genuine concern . After care is the root to success for this surg. and the staff and Dr. Norwood make this no secret.
