Wade Barker Bariatric Surgeon MD

I reseached all of the doctors in the El Paso, Albuquerque, Flagstaff, and Dallas-Ft. Worth area. Dr. Barker was the one most of the people I spoke to recommended. He spoke to me 2 or 3 times before the surgery and asked me to get heart and sleep study testing. Soon after his office scheduled me for the surgery. I was in and out the very next day. I felt bad for a couple of days and then was able to fly home to Albuquerque. Five days later my diabetic symptoms were gone. I lose 62 pounds over the next 6 months and then gained 6 back. I'm at my goal weight now and have been stable for a year and a half. I have had absolutely no problems and have gone from heart problems and 15 pills a day to 2 pills just for maintenance. Dr. Barker saved my life,

Dr. Wade Barker is probably the best and most experienced bariatric surgeon in Texas or maybe the United States, therefore, his office is extremely busy, and sometimes the wait was long, but I felt that I was in capable hands.

He is a very concerned and caring doctor who is 100% committed to his patients! I make these statements based on observation and actually having experienced the surgery. He has operated on me, my brother, my sister, my daughter, two of my nieces and several of our friends. All of our lives have been changed for the better because of his capable hands.

Dr. Barker was so kind on my first visit to see him. He was very professional with a great bed side manner. He was caring, but also really busy - - which most great surgeons are. It was important to me to have a good doctor that knew his business, and Dr. Barker does. His office staff was great. They did everything in a timely manner and had dates set up right away. The surgery went perfectly. Dr. Barker is a doctor that I would recommend highly.

My personal experience with Dr Barker is one I will never forget. The initial consult was like an assembly line as was the surgery experience and post-op care. After the initial surgery, I was released from the hospital with leaks. Under Barker's care, the leaks were undetected - there were two different opportunities to do so (after initial surgery and subsequent readmission to same hospital with pneumonia). The hospital removed 1.5 quarts of fluid from my left lung. It took an entire month for the leaks to be diagnosed. The leaks were actually diagnosed by an ER visit (due to high fever) to a different hospital located in a different city. It took four months of recovery under the care of surgeons and physicans. Excessive time away from work not only cost a significant amount of lost salary, but ultimately resulted in termination from a well paying job. Please think twice when placing your life in someone else's hands.

I am so happy that I choose Dr. Barker. I had the sleeve done by him last May and have lost 97lbs! I did my shopping before I choose him and Dr. Barker was by far the best choice. He is very knowlegable, attentive and caring. He answered every one of my questions during my consultation and was there for me through the whole process. Because of my insurance I was on a 6 month diet before I could have the surgery and his staff was there for me every step of the way. The insurance department put up with all of my calls and answered all of my questions for me. His staff is remarkable. My overall experience with Dr. Barker and his staff was great! No regrets at all!

Went for my 2 year weigh in last week and believe it or not I hit my goal weight.

I would recommend Barker to anyone who is even considering weight loss surgery. Every single person in his staff is friendly, warm, knowledgeable and accommodating. Dr. Barker himself truly cares about his patients and what he does. He took time to meet with me personally and answer all my questions. We discussed my different options but let me make the final decision on which surgery that I was most comfortable with. I went with bypass and have lost over 70 pounds in almost 3 months. I have never made a better decision in my life. Dr. Barker is truly a great doctor.

Dr. Barker is absolutely amazing.

My first impression of him was that he was VERY attentive. A total sweetheart. He listened to everything I had to say and spent almost an hour discussing the different procedures and the best options for me. I went into this clueless and came out very knowledgable. I had an appointment mid afternoon and the wait was not bad at all. They had a movie playing while I waited which was nice and it was definitely worth it when I saw Dr. Barker and his wonderful staff.

I had the surgery a year ago and am doing great! I am still so impressed with the follow up care I have received from his office. I have lost 127lbs and they have all been by my side through the whole process.

I would not chose another bariatric surgeon. They do not come better then him!

I have been most happy with my surgeon, Dr. Wade Barker, except in one area. I would have liked to have seen him personally prior to my surgery on my surgery day....and at least one time in my hospital room post surgery. His office staff are the best and you really feel like you are treated as a one on one patient with his staff.

Dr Barker and his staff are amazing. They are there when you have questions or when there is a problem. And they are just as excited for you as you are. Going to Dr. Barker was the best experience I have had with a Dr.'s Office.
