First impression was very positive. He is very comfortable with obesity and the care and treatment of it. Both times I met with him were positive. I have complete confidence in him.
His office staff is fine. No complaints.
He addressed the risks in both appointments. He discussed nutrition and after care. No guarantees.
I'm scheduled for 6/11/03. So far I would rate him as excellent. He has a long waiting list.

He is a great guy. Gibes you all the information you can imagine: good and bad. My impression has not changed. His staff is not quite as good as the doctor. I can't think of anything I didn't like about him. He really emphasizes aftercare and sees that you see both the hospital dietician and have several appointments with his nutritionist. He has a very structured aftercare program. He told me all of the risks and then on the next appointment he tested me on what I had been told to make sure I understood all of them. I would rate him as excellent and its a toss up about which is better his surgical competence or bedside manner. He is just a great guy.

I was on a waiting list for 2 years at the University of Washington Hospital. I met with Dr. Dellinger in May. I felt extremely comfortable with him. His nurses are great as well. Very helpful and understanding.I was given alot of information on the surgery and Dr. Dellinger explained all areas of the before and after care of surgery. I would highly recommend Dr. Dellinger.

Dr. Dellinger is a wonderful surgeon with a terrific bedside manner. He was recommended to me by my insurer and I have come to appreciate their confidence in his ability and technical skill. He is top notch! He also took care of my father as a general surgeon and his care and understanding was wonderful. He isn't the easiest guy to get to see, his waiting list is over two years long, but he is worth the wait.

Please note Dr. Dellinger is spelled with a De not Di. I have known Dr. Dellinger for a long time (I am a nurse in the institution he does surgery at). I have known many surgeions in my time as a nurse and he is one of the finest. He has the rare dual gift of being am expert surgeon as well as having a terrific bedside manner. He takes personal care with his patients, following them closely himself. And I can say as a nurse that when there is an emergency in the middle of the night with his patients, he does not hesitate and comes in immediately (sadly many surgeon do not, and its always the nurses who actually know this). I would highly, highly reccomend him.

dr. dillenger is a exception dedicated professor and chief of surgery at the university of washigton who because of his professional obligations can only schedule about one bariatric elective surgery per week. he is fully qualifiedfor gastric bypass as well as laperscoptic surgery but felt at the time of my surgery that the best method was a standard gastric bypass. due to my weight, age and physical condition. when i was approved for surgery on december 1998 there were not as many surgical advances as there are now. my weight at the time was 457 pounds. when my operation was completed on june 4 1999 i had reduced my weight to 385 pounds in preperation for my operation. i now weigh 255 pounds and have a appointment for consideration for a pannis operation that should bring my weight down to about 190 pounds. this followed by two other similar operations on excess amounts of flesh on my thighs and forearms will likly take my weight to about 180 pounds. after these are completed my both knees require to be reconstructed as my cartilage was lost due to somany years of extensive weight stress. currently my blood pressure averages 105 over 70 and my kidneys and liver are in excellent condition nor do i have problems with apnea this surgery will allow me the opportunity to sell my grandchildren grow up. the only negative aspects ofmy treatment have been overcoming obstacles in obtaining treatment thru the utilization of medicaidappearently i was the first patient approved for any elective obesity surgery in washington state for several years plus the difficulty in recieving medical treatment as so many professional cannot afford to accept patients under medicaid in washington state we should be thankfull for its acceptance at university of washington, harborview, northwest hospital and others that will accept medicaid patients.

My first impression of Dr. Dellinger was very good. He listened to my questions and gave me good solid answers if he had them. When he didn't, he made sure someone followed up and got back to me with one. He is very nice, he seems as though he cares about a person and this isn't just a business. He was very pleasant each time I met with him.
