I have not met Dr.Morton yet but plan to on my Pre-op Appt. July 29th I hear though that he is the best
around here.

Compassion, caring and wonderful. The office staff at Stanford is great. They take care of things. Don't let things drop, and go the distance to meet the patient's needs.

dr morton is know for his expertise in bariatric surgery. i feel very comfortable with him and i feel he knows what hes doing. he has never lost a patient or had any of his patients have complications which is a plus in my book,and stanford hospital is great in itself

Dr. Morton is a very caring, causuous doctor. He has an excelent track record. He has not lost any patients & has done over 350 surgeries. He did have me go though extra testts & delayed my surgery 3 months until he was satisfied that I would survive the surgery. (I am at incerased risk because of my kidneys & heart)
He makes sure you know the risks as well as the benefits of surgery. He insist on lots of visits post op & yearly visits there after to check on progress & health.
The staff is generally helpful. The main complaint I have is they don't tell you the time of surgery or report time until 4-6 pm the night before surgery. It makes it difficult to make arrangements for rides, pet sitters & people that work to be there for support. The increased anxiery does not help already nervous patients.

Dr. Morton rates a 10+, for his overall score. I, Tammys husband, was and still am pleased with him. Before surgery he asked questions and explained everything that we asked. Post-op we, Tammy and I would be walking and "run into" Dr. Morton (4 differant times and days) and he would get a big smile on his face and talk with us. I was very please with him before and even more so now.

Outside of an orderly and 1 RN, day 3 and 4, they treid to tell me, the husband, that because they had no "private rooms" that I was not alowed to stay with MY WIFE. They said that it was Unapropriate for me to stay in the hospital room with her. What because I am a guy they think I am going to take advantage of my wife after surgery?!! PLEASE. I stayed, refused to leave and they did nothing. The stay at the hospital was, well a stay at the hospital!! Do NOT expect to get any sleep and it would have been fine.

Dr Morton is now at Stanford Med Ctr in palo Alto, CA. He is very knowledgeable and answered all of my questions. His sincereity and professional manner was very reassuring prior ro surgery and knowing that he was doing my surgery gave me peace of mind. His approach to aftercare is to take everything very slowly so as to avoid problems. So far so good. I felt very safe and cared for under his care and would highly recommend him to anyone.

My first doctor was going to be Curet, at Stanford, but I had a chance get my surgery date sooner and change to Dr. Morton, I am so glad I did! He was very thorough, kind and answered all my questions. His nurse Judy was the best, she helped me through the preop, and what to expect post op. They went over everything twice, sometimes 3 times to make sure I understood it all. I cant say enough good things about Dr. Morton and his staff. They were all competent, had excellent manners, and made me feel safe and secure about my upcoming surgery.

Dr. John Morton is now at Stanford Hospital in Palo Alto, CA. I met him about a month ago for a consult. He was nice and approachable. He stayed and answered every single question. He didn't seem rushed. He seemed very confident in his craft and reassured me about post-op complications and what he does to mitigate post-op complications.

Office staff: friendly, always making me laugh.

Dr. Morton gave me the information I had been waiting for and even mentioned that if the insurance was approved quick enough, I could probably have the surgery before the holidays. Exactly 3 weeks later, I knew the insurance was approved and when I finally got in touch with someone in his office, I was told my appointment with his assisting surgeon and pre-op work was February.

FEBRUARY!!!!! I was ready to go in June when I got the referral from my PCM.

I have read so much since deciding to do this I'm prepared for any thing that will come my way.

Dr. John Mortan was very honest and open minded when it came to information about going for the gastric bypass surgery. He also was very helpful when giving information about helpful internet sites and links.
His office staff was very friendly and curtious. One particular person was the admission clerk Carol. Her presence and wonderful sense of humor made me feel as if i was at home rather than awaiting a doctor's appointment. UNC staff welcomed each and everyone in their "home" as an individual rather than just a patient waiting for a doctor's visit.
Dr. Morton gave me all insight on what i should expect as an upcoming patient for the GI surgery. He gave information on treatments and supports groups that would guide me through as i await on a sceduled surgery date. All information that i had researched prior to my meeting with Dr. Morton was provided to me in FULL detail the day i first met him. He went into full detail what risk factors follow the surgery and the positive and negative after affects of the surgery. But all in all he re-assurred me that by following the proper procedures everything should work out fine, especially the new change that my body, mind and soul will be going through. He also advise me that if i was never a person who had to take medications daily-then this will definitely be a major change. He explained that from the day of my surgery for the rest of my life there will certain vitamins and supplements that will need to be taken. In an overrall rating on Dr. John Morton I would definitely recommend a 10+.
