My first impression of him was made at a free informational meeting that he requires before becoming a patient of his. He was willing to stay until all questions had been asked and answered. He seemed totally non-judgemental.
What did I like least - he seemed to try too hard to sell his reputation.
After care: He stated that he is very strict about his expectations of his patients. His program is very structured, and he believes it is the secret to his patients' success.
He discussed the risks very candidly.
I liked him and decided to go through the process to be seen by him.
I have not yet met him in person.
5July2001- I got a date about a week ago. It's the 26th of July! I am so excited and so nervous at the same time. I am begining to question my choice to have the VBG. So many people have said bad things about it. I just don't want to have to take vitamins and B-12 shots for the rest of my life if I have the RNY. The VBG seems to be less upkeep as far as that goes. I am pretty confident about my choice and so is Dr. Weber, he suggested the VBG instead of the RNY for me. I think it just might be the jitters.
25June2001- I finally was approved after appealing to my insurance company. I did the appeal all on my own, and it only took 3 weeks to get all that I needed. Lisa is going to schedule me for the week of July 23rd, I'll get date tomorrow. I was so excited to get such a close surgery date. So far I am impressed with everyone except Pam, she is still rude to me. Lisa has been super though!! I look forward to my pre-op appointment with Dr. Weber, I haven't met with him in so long. Plus I am getting nervous and need to ask him some questions to reassure me. I think I will bring my husband along this time. Yikes!
I met Dr. Weber at his mandatory seminar Feb. 12. I really liked him from the beginning. Our first appointment went great! I live in Port Hadlock, very far away, and he was very accommodating, letting me see my own doctors and therapist. It was a great relief knowing that I wouldn't have to make the journey to Seattle for every little appointment. I have all of my requirements finished and I am waiting on insurance approval now. It's been about two weeks and my information hasn't been sent to Tricare yet. Dr. Weber is a very informative surgeon. He lets you know that he expects 7 days a week of exercise. No excuses! He addresses the risks of surgery with you, and totally explains the procedures he offers. He is very upfront and to the point. I really appreciate his forwardness and in no way is it rude, simply honest and strict. He has a great sense of humor and is a caring person. I haven't had the surgery yet, but so far I would rate him as an 8 or 9. Pam has been rude to me on numerous occasions, but the rest of his staff has been great! We will see how it all goes after surgery. Again, Dr. Weber is great!I reccomend him to all considering surgery.
6/22/01 -- I'm very happy with Dr. Weber's bedside manner, and follow-up care.
1/19/01 -- Meeting with Dr. Weber went well. He's very compassionate. He's calm, listens to you. Makes sure your questions are answered, etc. I felt quite comfortable with him. I trust he'll do a great job with my surgery.
1/8/01 - Went to info mtg for Dr. Weber. He's got a great sense of humor. I felt very comfortable at the mtg. I think he's a good choice. I'll be meeting with him on 1/19. I have a friend who chose him as her surgeon. She is very happy with her choice as well. He emphasizes a blenderized diet for 8 weeks post-op. (one of the most conservative post-op food plans out there)
12/06/00 - New insurance: Aetna US Healthcare, Open Choice. Dr. Fox is not listed as one of the preferred providers. However, Dr. Weber is listed. So I HAVE TO START ALL OVER in finding a doc. (grrr, not liking that.) However, I do believe that things happen for a reason... new insurance, new doctor... *sigh* I'm choosing to believe it's all for the best, and it means everything will work out great for me.
11/15/00 - Attended discussion group/seminar put on by Dr. Fox. He emphasizes aftercare quite a bit. (insurance is changing. Can't use Dr. Fox.)
My first impression of Dr. Weber was at his mandatory meeting before you can see him as a patient, and I knew right away that I would feel comfortable with him.
His staff treated me great, very helpful. his fill in receptionist was nice and funny, we had a great conversation with her.
I haven't to date had any bad feelings about him.
It is refreshing for the Doctor if you have all of your papers in order for him instead of handing a pile of mess. (mine was tabbed and in a binder.)
Dr. Weber is big on exercise and the 8 weeks of liquids which I think is the key to his success.
The risks were all explained at the first meeting and I felt they gave a very accurate account of what to expect.
so far a 10+, is what I would rate him.
all should be considered when it comes to surgical competence is the most important. Bedside manner wouldn't hurt.. we will soon see...........June 1st had my pre-op appt today and Pam is back neck brace and all we had a great talk with another patient. I still feel I picked the best surgeon. Dr. Weber was great he interacted with my family great, he had a wonderful bedside manner and I found him to be very funny. Edie and Lisa came to see me on my second day and that was a nice visit, I am glas I chose the Dr. and his staff that I did. A+ Dr. Weber and staff
I first met Dr. Weber in Feb of 2001. Right away I knew I wanted him to do my surgery. He was quick and to the point. He also seemed very caring.
I had my first surgical consultation at the beginging of May and was hoping to have my letter in already. Unfortunatly my PCP didn't do the right cortisol test and i had to do it again.
Right now I'm just waiting for the word back and then we'll see...
Dr. Weber's aftercare is strict but good. I think it really teaches you a lot. You HAVE to be moving, you HAVE to exercise EVERYDAY. This is good. it can only help you.
Dr. Weber was very honest about the risks involved in this surgery as well as his record. I have faith in someone who can be honest. Nothing is 100%.
I really like the Dr. and his staff. They are really a great bunch of people. I don't think anyone else could do this for me. Though they are VERY busy and occasionally short on the phone I have taken it in stride. they explain in the first meeting ( that you are required to go to before you can get a consultation) that sometimes that is the case and not to take it personally. I've gone with that.
Now I just want this to hurry up!
In fact as soon as I'm done ( hoepfully really soon) my mother is planning on starting her trip down this same road.
I really like Dr. Weber. I feel very comfortable with him and he is very honest about the reality of what this surgery means. He passed out info for support groups at the initial required seminar, and that impressed me. He really wants people to be informed and talk to other patients before they have this done. When I went to see him for my office visit, he sent me over to the hospital to visit with someone who had just had surgery the previous day. That made this so real for me.
Had my surgery on April 19 2001. I was very lucky because Dr weber had a heart attack the very next day. Thank goodness he is fine and already back to work, in fact we both got out of the hosp om the same day. My surgery went well and I was so impressed with the care I was given by the hosp staff. The pain of this surgery was NOTHING compared to childbirth, so if you are scared about the pain and you have had a child....pshaw! DONT WORRY!!
A year-and-a-half post-op, I find that I miss my visits to Dr. Weber--that's how much I appreciate him! My first impression is no different from my sense of him now: He's an excellent surgeon and an honest, caring doctor. I've had nothing but good experiences w/his staff. They facilitated my insurance approval and were always friendly and courteous. A few weeks ago I received a $15 refund check from a co-pay that I made months ago that was apparently unnecessary--how often does *that* happen? He does emphasize exercise. He feels it's the way to maximize the weight-loss surgery tool--that is, he thinks the only way to get down to your goal weight and stay there, even *with* the surgery, is by exercising regularly.
