My first impression of Dr. Weber is how wonderful for someone who (is such a tall, thin never had a weight problem) genuinely cares for Fat people that todays society shuns and views as being lazy etc...that this is truly a special man that wants to be able to morbidly obese people a fighting chance to a better quality of life.
GOD BLESS YOU DR. WEBER!!
My impression has not changed over time about Dr. Weber. H e is still a very caring man who truly wnants to help Morbidly Obese people lose weight and keep it off.
Dr. Weber's office staff is quite nice and very efficient. his insurance guru Pam can have the tendancy of being short with people but underneath that facade is a true caring individual.
What I liked least about him is that if Dr. Weber feels you are not following his instructions pre-op he will not hesitate to postpone or even cancel your surgery he is very emphatic about this.
What future patients should know about Dr. Weber is that he is a stickler for his instructions being followed to the letter.
Dr. Weber has a strong emphasis on aftercare especially exercise he expects his patients to exercise 7 days a week for at least 45 minutes to achieve the maximum weight loss.
Dr. Weber does have structured aftercare in that he follows you closely for at least the first year post-op.
He addresses the risks of surgery first of all in a general informational meeting that all potential patients must attend this is your first introduction to Dr. Weber and are able to have a question and answer time with him.
I would rate him overall as being one of the best in the business.
I believe that surgical competence is of the utmost importance but, a good bedside manner is necessary too. Both surgical competence and bedside manner are needed.
7/9/01 - I am very pleased with Dr. Weber, he obviously cares a great deal about his patients, but more importantly, he is tells you like it is. I am grateful that not only did he tell us about all of the good things that can come from the surgery and our hard work, but he also discussed at length the risks and potential risks & complications. He also answered every single question he was asked, even if the question/answer was not rosey, once again, he laid all his cards on the table.

Also, Dr. Weber requires that we each take an active and responsible roll in our own recovery and weight loss, the surgery isn't enough - we need to eat right and exercize. Dr. Weber also does not run a bariatric mill, he follows his patients before, during, and after the surgery.

Overall, I am impressed and pleased with Dr. Weber, I am very much looking forward to my surgery.
8/17/01 - My husband and I met with Dr. Weber today and this meeting just reinforced what I said above. I am very pleased with him and my choice of using him. He is a very personable man.

I would also like to comment on Dr. Weber's office staff. I work in a position where I need to protect managers from people who just want to meet with them before they are ready. I am also a patient who eagerly wants to have the surgery. I completely understand why some people have commented negatively about Dr. Weber's office staff; however, as a person who has a similar goal in my job, most of the comments, I feel, are unwarrented and undeserved.

The comments are from very anxious people who want something so bad that they are consumed by it (I know, I am consumed by this too, believe me). There is usually a process and a procedure that has developed for very good reasons and we may not always understand them (I know I sure as heck don't). We want these things to happen NOW and they don't.

I was that way through my first adoption, I am trying to be better about it through my surgical prep process. It isn't easy, these things take time and most of us just need to go with the flow. Checking up on things is ok, but we all just need to go with the flow.

Hang in there to all!
He seemed very dedicated and straight forward on all issues. He cares about individual health and well being not just doing the surgery. He is very funny at times while still being a realist yet his humor is not offensive in any way. He made me feel at ease. He was up-front with the risks. His office staff seems to work like a well oiled machine I dont know how they do it. I am looking forward to working with Dr Weber and his staff and I know that they will do all in their power to help my progress. He stresses the after care and that you stick with the plan. Surgery is the tool we need to use it correctly.
Very friendly, outgoing and a charming wit. Appears to be very concerned over the individual needs of each patient.
After meeting him personally on 1/11/02, I found that he's a very busy guy. Only spent 15 min with him after waiting an hour for my appt. He seemed to get the information he needed though. Hope to have more of a chance to get to know him after surgery.
I've waited several months to post this to see if my impressions of Dr. Weber/staff changed. They didn't. I was initially impressed with Dr. Weber during orientation. Seemed personable and knowlegable about the bypass .In fact -I believe he has good surgical skills. Waited a couple of mos for an appt and then 1 1/2 hour wait in waiting room to be called for appt.Perhaps he had a bad day. Perhaps he was tired. But I found his attitude rude and flippant. In addition be prepared to have students in the room with you. One was a high school student. You are not asked if you mind , you are just told who they are.I found this inappropriate. This is the time you are making important decisions about your life and future. One doesn't need to feel constrained when making a decision and as a patient you should feel part of the decision making process. Dr. Webers attidude may have been acceptable when he was the only doc in town doing wls- as a pt I believe they're is other doctors and other surgeries you can pick . Don't feel you have to put up with arrogance and unprofessional behavior just because you need wls .
My first impression of Dr Weber was wonderful. He is a very busy person with not a lot of time on his hands. His office staff is busy as well but they are attentive to your needs.
The thing I liked least about Dr Weber was his output of information. I wish that he had more pamphlets and informational packets to give his patients. I think it would keep patients from calling with the same questions over and over.
Please know that he is an awesome surgeon but very busy. Don't take it to heart if he rushes you - he truly does have your health as his first interest.
He emphasized alot about his aftercare. Dr Weber addressed this surgery with honesty.
I would rate Dr Weber a 10! He saved my life! His surgical competence was most important to me.
I went to the informational meeting with Dr. Weber and his staff. There were a lot of questions and it was so busy I feel very comfortable with the way they handled their
meeting and I felt it was a good reflection on how they would handle the processing of the insurance papaerwork. I spoke with Pam today and she gave me a few tips on how to handle submitting the request to my employer, that was nice.
For now I'm still keeping my fingers crossed...
11/16 I had my first meeting with Dr. Weber. He is very cool. Super upbeat with a positive attitude. I am looking forward to working with him in the future.
