Dr. Alvarez and his entire staff at Endobariatric is amazing!! I can't explain how incredible my experience was in Mexico. From the beginning you fill out the medical questionnaire online Dr. Alvarez personally reviews it and replies to you and knows who you are and you become part of the Endobariatric family. You will not be left in the dark or have to wonder or worry about ANYTHING!! You will be emailed everything you need to know about your surgery and your trip to Mexico before you go and everything is exactly as they explain it to you, no surprises. I highly recommend Dr. Alvarez and his staff at Endobariatric to anyone considering weight loss surgery. He is the best surgeon for the vertical sleeve and you will get one on one care with him and the attention as if you have been long time friends. He truly cares for his patients and takes his time with each of them. The surgery itself was so easy and virtually painless because Dr. A has crafted so many sleeves over the years he is an expert in his field and a surgeon of excellence. I went back to work the next week with no problem just some lifting restrictions. I'm 6 weeks post op as of today and the surgery has changed my life. I was already taken off of my high blood pressure medication after only 2 weeks post op. I'm down a total of 46 pounds as of today and no problems. I'm so grateful and thankful I found Dr. Alvarez and Endobariatric because without him I would not have been able to have this life saving procedure. Please don't be scared to research Dr. Guillermo Alvarez and Endobariatric.com, it just might save your life, it did mine!

This will be the best money that you have ever spent. The first three weeks post-op are the most difficult. Follow diet instructions during this time, seriously. Dr. Alvarez and his staff are very, very, very nice people and they are expert clinicians. I would do it all over again in a second. The only question that you need to ask yourself is, "Do I want to live my life at normal weight? Yes or no? If yes, make an appointment with Dr. Alvarez.

As a registered nurse, I was hesitant with not only having the surgery done, but also with going out of the country to Mexico. I luckily had the benefit of having two fellow colleagues who had their surgery with Dr A 6 months prior. Dr A was very informative. He posted answers to all my questions before, during, and after surgery on YouTube. I went to Mexico alone and had my surgery done. His entire team took care of me and not once did I feel scared or neglected. I was even surprised that right before surgery he asked me who he should call after my procedure. He put my family at ease before I could call them and do the same. Once you have decided to do the surgery, Dr Guillermo Alvarez should be your choice. Your only responsibility is to get to San Antonio and he will take care of the rest.

I can't say enough wonderful things about Dr. Alvarez and his entire team! They made the process so comfortable and easy. They also took great care of my husband who was with me for support. You just won't find that at most hospitals in America (and I'm the daughter of a doctor and nurse so I mean absolutely no disrespect to American medical personnel). I would recommend Dr. Alvarez to anyone looking to have the VSG.

My name is Pete and I am from Ohio. I went on July 28th, 2016 and had the gastric sleeve done with Dr. Alvarez. As everyone else stated on the reviews, I was weary about traveling to Mexico to have the surgery done and everyone thought I was crazy for going there to do it, but I couldn’t find anything but positive reviews about him. So compared to where I live and rather than paying close to $30,000 to have the surgery done here, I took my chances and traveled to Mexico and got the procedure done for less than half price. I don’t have health care insurance and am currently diabetic, have high blood pressure and high cholesterol. I couldn’t see paying $30,000.

Like everyone else states, I too had a wonderful experience and couldn’t be more happy with the progress that I have made thus far. Everything was perfect and went great. Every single one of the doctors and nurses that are a part of Dr. Alvarez’s team are great and friendly. They were constantly in my room asking if I needed anything and most of them spoke great English and you will have no problem understanding them what so ever. My wife went along with me and while I was in surgery they also made sure that she was well taken care of. They would go to the store or restaurant and get her anything that she needed, food wise. Susan is also great and will answer any questions you might have. I have called her a few times since my surgery making sure it was okay to eat certain foods. She is very friendly and helpful and you can call her anytime of the day. The doctor will also email you weekly with updates and different stages that you will go through. The other 2 ladies that had the surgery done the same day as me was a pleasure to be with as well. They were both very friendly and we are planning on meeting up with each other sometime in the near future!

My wife was even concerned about staying at the City Express hotel in Piedras Negras, Mexico, but I will tell you that you will have nothing at all to worry about. The hotel is great and clean. There is a nurse that will always be on duty and speaks English. She will help you with whatever it is that you need. You have to have your room key to get on the elevator and can only go to the floor that you are staying on. That really makes it safe so that way nobody can’t just wander up to your floor unless they are staying on that floor. My wife really liked the idea of that. We also stayed a couple extra days after I had my surgery just to make sure everything was going to be okay before I flew all the way back home and Rosie (the driver) checked us into the hotel in Texas (La Quinta) under their account and we were able to get the discount that they use for their patients. We only paid half price for the hotel for the extra nights that we stayed there. (Mind you they do pay for your hotel stay during the surgery; we just paid because of the extra nights that we stayed after the surgery) Our flight didn’t leave until the evening time and Rosie also even planned for us to have a late checkout at the hotel.

As far as how I am doing now, well I am about 6 weeks post op and I am doing excellent to say the least. A couple hours after surgery I was up and walking around and only had very little pain. The cut that caused the most pain was the one that they took the stomach out of. It did hurt a little bit for a couple weeks after the surgery. But that is all to be expected and everyone heals and tolerates pain differently. I never once threw up or anything after my surgery, even to this day! I am really excited about that because some of the other reviews I read and people that I know personally that have gotten the surgery done, have all threw up at one point or another. You can feel as the food goes down and your body will start to learn when it has had enough. The worse part for me, still is, is making sure I am drinking enough liquids. It is very hard to do, yet very important that you try and do so. The last thing you need is to become dehydrated. Over all the experience was great and I have more energy now than I recall ever having. I have gone from a 54 in pants down to a size 46, with 70 pounds that are gone forever!!!

I had surgery with Dr. Alvarez (Mexico) on 7/30/16. I went to a couple surgeons in my state and they offer me the balloon surgery instead of the VSG because of my lower BMI. I was not happy with the research I did on that procedure. I found Dr. Alvarez and with all the recognitions and education he has I didn't think twice to chose him.

After I told my husband that I intended to go to Dr. Alvarez, he was very apprehensive for me to travel to Mexico alone for surgery but we both agreed that this was the best possible choice. Surgery day came and everything went great and the entire team was excellent.

I truly recommend Dr Alvarez and his team for this surgery!

After reading and watching a large number of testimonials and youtube videos and frankly searching for a few negative ones (which I never found) I called Dr. Alvarez's and made an appointment. The staff was wonderful giving me the information I needed and personally walked me through the process. From the time Rosie picked us up from the hotel until the time she returned us the trip was VIP all the way, there was always someone there to answer our questions and help us if we needed it. We actually went to a brand new hotel in Piedras Negras and went to the hospital directly from there. We stayed in the hospital overnight and were taken back to the hotel the next morning. I much preferred that since I felt great and was able to spend the day working on my laptop. We had nurses checking on us all day and evening and also did a little shopping excursion in town. The following day we were taken back to the hotel in San Antonio. The entire trip was comfortable and well organized. I was fortunate that I no side effects from the surgery nausea etc. so for me I am extremely pleased with the entire process and would recommend it to anyone who needs to lose the weight. I am a 65 year old 6' man who started this journey at 315# and am now at 260# 4 weeks post op. I could not be more excited about my future in a size correct body again. Thank you so much Dr. Alvarez and all of your staff.

Great experience, great surgeon and staff, great support.

I came down to Dr. Alvarez twice - once to have a lap band removed, and again 6 months later for a gastric sleeve. He was always professional and supportive, otherwise I wouldn't have come back! About one month post op and I'm doing great. I was originally concerned about going to Mexico, but had no bariatric insurance benefit and had to pay out of pocket for a surgery I desperately needed for health reasons. I did a lot of research and chose the best - Dr. Alvarez! I'm so glad I did!
