Dean Quigley Bariatric Surgeon M.D.

My first impression of Dr. Quigley was wonderful. He laid out every detail of the surgery for me, explained everything thoroughly. His staff was fabulous the day I was there: Lori and Becky. I have talked to Lori numerous times on the phone and she has always been prompt at returning my calls. I am waiting for my preop appointment right now. My surgery date is May 13th, 2008. No doubt I would rate Dr.Quigley as a 10+!

My surgeon Dr. Dean Quigley is actually now in Spearfish, SD. rnrnHe is awesome.rnrnNothing changed.rnrnAwesome.rnrnNothing.rnrnThey are really wonderful people to work with. Dr. Quigley's nurse Laurie is a sweetheart, and they both are very compassionate at what they do. He has you see his dietician and she is a sweetheart too. After my surgery my doctor checked on me and that night he came back and checked on me. rnrnAlot. rnrnThe main thing I couldn't do was lift over 10lbs and drive until my stitches were out. They also have a diet plan they have printed out and you have to follow it. rnrnHe addressed the risks really good.rnrn10+rnrnBoth are great.

Dr. Quigley was very professional. He let me know all the risks that were involved and that it is not a quick fix. It is not the easy way out...as some people may think. He put me at ease. I appreciated the fact that he encouraged me to do as much research as possible and even recommened this site for help.

I first visited Dr. Quigley last summer.I had been accepted for open gastric by-pass surgery in Seattle, and was awaiting a surgery date.A family friend had Dr. Quigley perform the same surgery and was really happy with the results so I went to Spearfish.Thank God!
From the first visit,I was so impressed.Dr. Quigley explained everything clearly. He stressed that my safety was the #1 priority, which was really reassuring.
I don't have enough space to convey just how impressed I am with the man-his attitude, professionalism, surgical competence, are all top-notch.
Anyone considering having Dr. Quigley do their gastric bypass-BY ALL MEANS-GO FOR IT!

I was very impressed with Doctor Quigley. He was very professional and gave me all of the facts about the surgery in a clear and concise manner. He seemed to be most concerned about the safety of the surgery which I appreciated. I was impressed when I heard him tell his nurse that he had givin a patient his cell phone number because he was going to be out of town for the weekend. I couldn't believe a doctor would do that! He encouraged me , but did not sugar coat the procedure as a cure all. He emphasized how much I would have to do to make this successful. I foulnd him pretty easy to talk to. Overall I would rate him very competent and caring.

I did not know what to expect when I went to see Dr. Quigley. I had heard several different things. I was very impressed, first of all, I did not have to sit in the room for hours before he came in. He was very informative about the operation. He did not sugar coat anything and made sure I knew all the pros and cons of surgery.

First appointment with Quigley here in Spearfish, SD! I was pretty impressed with him, seemd very forthright and honest. Also told me the good news that Medicare and Medicaid does not require pre-approval! Yippee! Was sent to consult with a dietician, who seemed as young as my grandchild, gave me a 1,000 calorie diet to loose 20 lbs. before surgery scheduled and to educate me into what to expect! I need to whine, because there is not enough protein in this Diabetes Association diet for me, am hungry all the time, and it's a set up for binging. I need to give him a call! He was very thorough in explaining the risks and exactly what the surgery would do for me. He uses the open RNY exclusively, and tends to stay in e-mail touch with his patients, which is impressive!
I'm still freeking scared and not sure I can actually loose the 20 lbs before surgery. I know most of his office staff, and he's the new guy on the block, so I guess we'll all see!

I was very impressed with Dr. Quigley. He seems to me to be a very interested and caring man. He was easy to talk to, and I think very importantly, he is blunt. He took the time to explain not only the benefits, but also the problems that can arise during and after the surgery. He was straight-forward and I really appreciate that. So many times you get doctors who tell you what you want to hear, it was refreshing to have someone lay it all out there - letting me make the decision based on ALL the information.
The office staff seemed incredibly nice. I have only been there once, so that is the first impression I got.
The only complaint I had was that, once I was there, I ended up waiting a while before I could see him. Normally, it wouldn't have been a problem, but I had my psychiatric evaluation scheduled too close to my doctor's appointment, so I had to reschedule the psych eval.
