Buritt Haag Bariatric Surgeon M.D., F.A.C.S.

Dr. Haag was very informative at my initial consultation and answered all the questions I had at that time. He was forthcoming about the risks of the surgery as well as the benefits. I was discouraged when he told me that his office had had very little success with my insurance company and he didn't seem hopeful but encouraged me to try and to appeal if necessary. Fortunately this turned out not to be a concern as my surgery was approved in less than a week. I was given a very detailed diet notebook with shopping lists etc and information about the surgery to read and was encouraged to call with any questions as well as attend support meetings. His staff was very helpful, especially at the support meetings. My surgery went very well and I did not experience complications. Overall I have been very pleased with Dr. Haag and would recommend him without reservation.

My first impression of Dr Haag, was that he was very calm and down to earth. Very easy to talk to and ask the 1 million questions my husband and myself had. He seems very supportive of my decision and emphasizes support groups pre and post-op. His practice currently requires 2 pre-op support group meetings prior to applying for insurance approval. Dr Haag was very upfront and to the point with surgical risks. Nothing was "sugar-coated". My husband was with me during the consultation and Dr Haag was very open to his thoughts and concerns also regarding the surgery. I look forward to many more interactions with Dr. Haag and his staff.

My first impression was good.
My impression changed for the better, he was kind and to the point. The office staff was professional, no small talk. Which was fine. He was very professional. I did have a complication, which was not his fault. He got me to the hospital as quickly as possible, and handled the situation very well.

My first impression of Dr. Haag was "young". He is a young good-looking doctor but don't be fooled by his youth. He has spent a year doing nothing but lap procedures including about 90 lap bands so I was impressed with his training. He is very thorough about explaining the RNY and band and lets you choose which one you want. He comes to the support group meetings to answer questions and is very honest. I have only interacted with a few office staff so far but they seem very dedicated and willing to help you through the process. Two of them also came to the support group meetings. I guess the thing I least like about Dr. Haag is his youth (how awful to say)! It gives the impression of inexperience but it is not his fault! He is very concerned about aftercare and explains that he wants to keep a good eye on you after surgery. Dr. Haag also lets you know that finding the "sweet spot" is a process and that he does 99% of fills in his office. He does not currently require pre-op weight loss but may consider it in the future because it does make surgery easier (due to liver size). I think he was very thorough about risks and benefits of both surgeries (but I had also done a lot of research before I went). I think a surgeon's competence is more important than his bedside manner but feeling comfortable with your surgeon is important too.

Dr. Haag was extremely welcoming when we first met and has continued to be very warm and attentive to my needs. His staff is impecible. They have exceeded any and all expectations I have had so far.
He and his staff have been very open with what is going to happen, what is to be expected of me and any pros and or cons that may be possible with this procedure.
I would reccommend Dr. Haag to anyone needing any type of surgery he may offer.
If I had to say anything negative about Dr. Haag or his office, was just once I was not impressed with a nurse covering for Dr. Haag's regular nurses. She expressed too often how over worked she was with everyone out.

Dr. Haag was to the point, very knowlegeable and personable. He is intent on giving his patients a better life. His staff is friendly and available. There is nothing I did not like about him, although he is younger than I expected. He recommends support groups, nutritional counselling and pyschiatric counselling if needed. He was very upfront with the risks of surgery, and also the risks of remaining obese. He talked to me about various surgical means for weight loss, but agreed that the Lap-band was for me. I have only met with Dr. Haag once, but I would rate him a 10 because he was able to answer all my questions and provided me with a lot of information. Surgical competence is a necessity, but one needs to trust in the surgeon. You can not trust a surgeon who has a poor bed-side manner. Dr. Haag has both the expertise and the bed-side manner, and I feel completely comfortable with my choice.
