I actually have not met him face to face yet as he is in Richland, WA and I live in Tacoma, WA however when I called for information he actually got on the phone personally and talked with me for quite a while. Very personal and professional. I liked him already. In fact I liked him so much I changed from Dr. Strain at the Wish Center where I was scheduled for Lap band surgery to Dr. Heap where I am going to have the Mini Switch done.

My first impression of Dr. Heap is he is very caring and knows what he is doing. He answered all my questions and treated me with dignity.

I had my first visit with him yesterday and I felt he was very kind, he answered my questions, I was pleased. I really wanted the gastrectomy and I am grateful he has a surgery that will help me absorb vitamins. I have horrid osteporosis in my family and was worried about that

Dr Heap is a great Doctor , He really cares about people , and His staff are the best ! Really kind and caring to !
I would not go to any other Doctor for this type of surgery , I'm in the best hands !

My first impression of Dr. Heap was that he was shorter than I had pictured him to be. He was more personal than some Doctors that I have been around. The office staff was very nice. The after care for me is all in my hands. I must take care of my self by eating good and going to the gym. The risks are spelled out clearly by Dr. Heap. How would I rate him overall well that would be very good!! I was glad he was not in it for the money. Dr. Heap has both surgicl competence and bedside manner.

When i went to meet with him he seemed very down to the point. I sat down and he sat down. Then very nicely he said,"How may i help you". I thought i was at Mcdonalds or something. He broke the ice very nice. he asked me what surgry did i have in mind, to see if i did my homework. then he recommended the procedure he thinks would be approiate. I will go with what he thinks. I live by this rule, If you need Engineering, you go to a professional engineer, if you need your teeth fixed, you go to a dentist, but if you need to lose weight, you go and see a professional, and Dr. Adrian Heap is the only man I would trust my life with. I did feel like i could tell him anything. I think i would rate him at an 9.5 compared to the world.

My first impression of him was very good. His surgery differs from the regular DS procedure and he completely explains it to you. He has 30+ years of experience and has adjusted his surgery based on his findings from patient records. I appreciate that! He will talk to you on the phone if you call his office and He also answers his email personally really fast.
His staff is great - very helpful (thanks Joetta and Penny!)

Dr. Heap would benefit from quitting smoking cause the smell kinda turns me off.

Dr. Heap is a little hard to understand because he is British but I didn't have any problems.
Dr. Heap is very upbeat about the outcome of the surgery and had a great bedside manner.

Dr. Heap performed my surgery August 27, 2004. He is a wonderful doctor. I love Dr. Heap. He saved my life. I'm now 5 months out of surgery and I feel younger than I did 5 to 10 years ago. Anyone thinking of having a Vertical Gastrectomy, should conference with Dr. Heap. He has many years of experience.

A Yakima Support Group has been formed for patients having or thinking of having a Vertical Gastrectomy. Please contact Dr. Heap's office for additional information.

My first impression of Dr. Heap was that he really knows about Bariatrics and he expects you to know what exactly you are coming to see him for. I think that is very important because to many people go into this lightly and they don't educate themselves properly about the procedures. I spent two hours in consultation with him as he explained the procedure and as I asked him the questions that I had prepared. He answered all of my questions thoroughly and without hesitation. He is VERY straight forward which I find refreshing and welcome. He is direct and clear about the risks and complications that can occur. He expects honesty when you discuss your health history and current health issues, (don't hide anything from him, you could be endangering yourself and this surgery is about saving your life, not losing it because of a hasty decision). Joetta is his office manager and she is WONDERFUL. If she doesn't know an answer she will find out and get back to you asap. She went above and beyond her job to help me during my visit.I cannot thank them enough. There really wasn't anything that I didn't like about Dr. Heap or his staff.Future patients should RUN not WALK to his office, he is remarkable. There is not much for an aftercare program but He does emphasize that this is a tool and ONLY YOU can make it work. Success is in your reach if you Choose to take hold of it.I would rate him 5 stars and would go back in a heartbeat. If I knew months ago, what I know now, I would be months post-op instead of 1 week. His surgical competence is outstanding and I found his bedside manner to be exceptional. I would recommend him to anyone READY to make this pivotal decision. He is very affordable and is obviously one of the FEW doctors that are in business to help people rather than in it for the money. If you have any questions. please do not hestitate to email me. I am not sorry that I don't have anything negative to say about my experience but this is MY experience and I cannot guarantee that yours will be as great.Everyone is different and may have different results. Thank you for you time and Good Luck.

Dr. Heap is cool and relaxed. He knows what he is dealing with but you sometimes have to dig a little for information. I don't think he realizes that you are new and know very little even the right questions to ask. Do your own homework. But he will answer your questions very thoroughly. He is a very caring physician, always concerned about you the patient, how things are going, and how you are feeling. He has excellent followup to surgery.

Negatives? He smokes and that is annoying to a non-smoker in his office. He is a little hard to understand with his pleasant English accent but it does cause one to listen more carefully.
