I have always been overweight not obese, but still overweight. But it got worse after having my Son. I gained over 50 lbs during the pregnancy, and I have been on a Diet ever since. I went to a weight Doctor and he put me on pills and a diet much like Atkins (before Atkins was even known) I done weight watcher a couple times, Jenny Craig a couple times, nutria systems, Slim fast and dexatrim. I even tried hypnosis. I'd loose 20 pounds then gain 30. Lose 30 gained 40. lose 35 gained 45. It kept going that way and I'm now at 250 pounds. (And counting) My Brother had the gastric bypass surgery 5 years ago and has been hounding me to get the same surgery. But I couldn't convince my husband to let me have the surgery. So when I found out that my company insurance covered the surgery, I enrolled with the company medical insurance. Ask my husband to go the the information seminar with me. He agreed to go.
We went to find out about the surgery back in May 2008 and he was on board. I went to my first visit with the bariatric doctor visit on June. Then I went to the six months of supervised diet visits with the doctor. I went to the psychological evaluation, the Dietary consult , lab work, & had a sleep study done and found out I sleep apnea. Had an EKG and EGD and I gathered all the need paper work required by the insurance company.
I had to keep a binder just to keep track of it all. 
The check list was a page long with everything that the insurance company wanted, On Nov 11th my case was submitted to insurance company and it was declined.
They wanted additional letter from my PCP.
And on top of that they only gave 48 hour to get the letter and the first 24 hours my Doctors office was closed. My Bariatric Doctor office sent the insured company the letter and the waiting started again. On Nov 25th the insurance company said they didn't get the letter. So all of the paper work had to be sent again. Today Dec 16, 2008 I still have no answer. The waiting is the worst.
