Wendy, It is difficult to get all of your requirements in at the start. I would recommend- eating ONLY protein sources (As much as you can manage) and have your water bottle with you constantly sipping. Your capacity will grow as you heal. If things are being particularly difficult, try a weak hot tea a liitle before eating, the hot fluid helps relax the pouch, and will allow you eat a bit more. if after 1 1/2 months out you aren't getting all your protein in, talk with your doctor/nutrtioinist and see what else you can do.

11/08/02 OK. I've made it home. Pain wasn't untolerable, but the feeling crappy is! I want to be able to move and drink normally. Hopefully next week after the drain comes out I'll be back to feeling human. Just got a new medicine to help control the queasies...hope it works! Still weigh more than I did when I left for the hospital, but not by much. Tried a protein shake today...and about gagged. I used the Isopure creamy vanilla and added peaches and it is so strong I can't stand it! Going to try and dilute it later...otherwise, I think I'm in trouble with the protein thing. Any help would be appreciated!

Hello, I just talked to Wendy on the phone. She sounded GREAT!!!!! She's having tolerable pain and is walking. She says that IT DOES help. I'll have to remember that for next friday. Anyway, she'll probably get to come home tomorrow if all goes well. She was very easy to reach, her hospital number is on her surgery page. Ya'll give her a yell and wish her well. (I made a rhyme hehe)
