I guess it's about time I wrote a little about my story. I am 65 years old. My birthday was just last week. I have no problem with my age. In fact I am thankful each day for the life I have led. I am active, with four grandsons, one granddaughter, and three step-granddaughters. I am retired, however I now wonder how I had time to work.
I had surgery four and half years ago. May 03, 2005. I weighed a pound less than 300lbs. I was 60 years old and couldn't get down to bathe my darling grand babies. I couldn't take them for a walk.....I could hardly hold them on my lap as my stomach was in the way. I had been dieting since I was 20 years old. I always regained any weight I lost.
I had no problems with the surgery. No pain other than the normal post-op complaints. I feel like a normal person today. When I make a cake my husband gets more than one piece now. (He used to always say "where is that cake you made?" and I would say "I ate it". Now the cake sits and he has a piece every night after supper.
I have beautiful clothes. I love makeup and fixing my hair. (Which I always did even when I was heavy) Life is good. It's not perfect.....I have three adult children....and you know they have some problems that filter back to Mom. If I hadn't had surgery I can't imagine where I would be now. A wheelchair? Certainly a walker. Or would I just sit in a chair and watch TV? I shudder to think of it.
Well, that is all for today. I will blog regularly on here. December 6th, 2009
