4 1/2 month post op update

May 01, 2013

I had VSG on Dec 14,2012 I never in a million years thought that it would help me as much as it has.  I have lost 86 lbs and have gone from a size 28 to a size 18. The transformation is AMAZING!!! I am still having a hard time realizing that i am getting smaller and my wonderful husband keeps me going. It is shocking to realize that my nieces and nephews can finally wrap their arms around my waist, and they are so excited about it.   I have so much more energy now, zumba 2xs a week and walking daily.  almost all of my IIH symptoms have stopped, my Neuro is very happy with the results and has lowered all of my meds.  I have gone from taking 16 different pain meds to function everyday down to ZERO!!!!!  sometimes i think i eat a little more than i should, but other times i don't think i eat enough.  I am very strict about what i eat and have slipped a few times, i paid for that dearly made me very sick when i ate a fried chicken strip.  I am still not comfortable taking body pics, maybe one day that will change.  To everyone who has already gone through WLS, keep up the great work.  To all of the ones looking to have WLS, do your homework.  Know what you are getting into and realize that this a TOOL, you have to do all of the work for this to be successful.  I had a very easy recovery, but the mental part is extremely hard but at the same time the results and benefits have having this done are so worth it.

Post-Op 4weeks 3 days

Jan 14, 2013

Today is 4 weeks and 3 days since I had surgery! Everything is going great, I have gone from 350lbs pre-op to 304lbs! It is amazing, I am seeing more and more that I am losing weight.  People are shocked when they see me and ask tons of questions, it is great.  I have such a very strong support system, not only at home but at work as well and all of my friends have seen me struggle with IIH and are so excited for me.  My oldest brother calls just to see how much weight i have lost and to tell me he is proud of me! That is a wonderful feeling.  I have started taking the stairs instead of elevators at work (4 flights), i am out of breath by the 3rd floor but I keep going and my co-worker cheer me on and tell me i can do it.  I love and appreciate all of the people that have blessed my life and couldn't do it without them.  I hope that everyone out there has at least one person that is their own cheerleader, it makes this process so much easier.  I have been noticing that since i have to eat healthier that people around me are eating healthier too, that makes me happy.
