Well I FINALLY got approval from OHIP!  My doctor has spent the last 5 months doing tests on me to support him indicating yes to either death or tissue damage...and finally has sent the info back in to OHIP indicating yes to both!  Not that any of the tests showed anything...other than I'm a morbidly obese healthy person!

I got a call from Barix before I found out from OHIP.  Because it has been over 6 months since I went to see Dr. Poplawski, (it's been 6 months and 2 weeks!) their policy is that I have to see him again!  That would mean 3 - 6 hr trips to Michigan!  But the secretary was very nice and arranged so I could see him when I go for my PATS.

Oh yeah...I go for PATS on April 21st (my 18th Wedding Anniversary!) and then go for surgery on April 29th...I'm all mixed emotions right now...but mostly excited, and a little scared.

I wish anyone success that is starting the process...be persisent with your doctor...it pays off!

Sept 18/07 - Went to Dr. Barker today...was very nervous!  Didn't know how he'd feel about WLS, or if he'd know much about it.  Wel...he doesn't know a lot...but is willing to go through the process with me.  (He admitted that I probably know more about it than him!)  He suffered a mild heart attack a couple of weeks ago, and maybe that worked to my advantage! 

So he's sending me for a bunch of bloodwork and tests...which is good.  He also asked if I'd ever considered a breast reduction...we're gonna see how much goes with the WLS and then we'll look at it again!  He wants me to lose 20-30 pounds before the surgery...so I'm willing.

He is to be filling out the forms and I can pick them up to fax....hopefully by Friday!

I'm on my WAAAY!

Sept 6/07 - Went to Barix today for my consult with Dr. Poplawski.  He's a great doctor, and I feel I've made a good choice.  Everyone is wonderful at Barix and now it's a couple of weeks until I can see by doctor to get the OHIP forms signe...waiting is hard!
