I did it

Feb 02, 2011

It has been a long time since I posted. Things have been going well thus far. The one thing I'm having trouble with is exercise and my second round of vitamins. I do a lot around the monastery and keeping up with the full schedule can be very tiring. So when I do have some free time I just want to take a nap but I started walking instead on some afternoons. I got a good pedometer and I'm surprised at how much I do walk during the day.

Last night was the first time that I went out to a formal dinner. I was very scared and nervous to the point of tears. I was so worried about standing out and people making a fuss over what I could eat and how to handle the dessert table. And what to do if something got stuck which still happens now and then.  At the end they ended up making a plain hamburger patty for me that I put some spag sauce on. So it kind of looked like what other people were eating. I had packed a "safe" meal that just had to be microwaved and a sugar free pudding. I didn't need the meal but ate the pudding while others were eating their desserts. It went over very well.

Being a Nun in a full habit I stand out enough and already get the looks for what I'm wearing (which I'm used to now) then add the fact that I'm not able to eat the same things just makes me stand out even more.
I know that it will get a lot easier and I'll be more comfortable going out and eating differently.

I was very happy that I didn't give in to staying home.

God Bless
