I did it
Feb 02, 2011
It has been a long time since I posted. Things have been going well thus far. The one thing I'm having trouble with is exercise and my second round of vitamins. I do a lot around the monastery and keeping up with the full schedule can be very tiring. So when I do have some free time I just want to take a nap
but I started walking instead on some afternoons. I got a good pedometer and I'm surprised at how much I do walk during the day.
Last night was the first time that I went out to a formal dinner.
I was very scared and nervous to the point of tears. I was so worried about standing out and people making a fuss over what I could eat and how to handle the dessert table. And what to do if something got stuck which still happens now and then. At the end they ended up making a plain hamburger patty for me that I put some spag sauce on. So it kind of looked like what other people were eating. I had packed a "safe" meal that just had to be microwaved and a sugar free pudding. I didn't need the meal but ate the pudding while others were eating their desserts. It went over very well.
Being a Nun in a full habit I stand out enough and already get the looks for what I'm wearing (which I'm used to now) then add the fact that I'm not able to eat the same things just makes me stand out even more.
I know that it will get a lot easier and I'll be more comfortable going out and eating differently.
I was very happy that I didn't give in to staying home.

Hi
I'm home from the hospital and Guest house stay!!!!!!
It is good to be home. Just in time for Thanksgiving. mashed pots and gravy mmm, no turkey but that is OK with me. I have been doing really well thus far. The Dr. is very pleased and happy for me. I'm starting to explore puree stuff I hope that will help with getting the protein in.
The surgery was partly done by robotics, it was really cool to see what technology is out there, He spent 3 hrs clearing scar tissue from the other surgeries that I just had done in the past 4 years then another 2 hrs doing the bypass. 5hrs total. He did keep me in the hospital a day longer than usual for this reason but I didn't mind. I had another week to spend at the Guest House.
But all went well and I'm home.

Pre op ~~~~Death in Family
Nov 10, 2010
Hi
I'm 6 days before surgery and I just found out that my Grandfather passed away. I have to figure out how to fit going to the funeral before the surgery. It was a sudden death, I was just up visiting him 2 weeks ago and he was doing well for 82. He was just walking across the living room and fell. God has strange timing. But if it would have happened next week I wouldn't have had the chance to go to the funeral at all.
May he rest in peace.
I ask that you keep us in your prayers.
Thank you
God Bless

Day 8

Day 8
I'm still going......... My body is slowly getting used to the reduction of calories but by the end of the day I'm ready for bed. I have found that switching between Atkins and Carnation nsa breakfast is helping to add to the varieties of drinks. I have already seen a change in weight and size.
And as a side note yes I'm real nun from St. Emma Monastery in PA. I'm not going to be able to leave the Monastery for support groups so I'm allowed to use the computer. I sit in front of it all day any way as the business manager.
God bless

Day 2 of Liquid
Nov 03, 2010
Still going OK today. I had to drive 4hrs to meet with the team for all of the pre op apts. All went well I'm set for the 16th I'm not sure if it was all of the driving and leaving at 5 am to get to the Cleveland Clinic or if it was the lack of food and coffee that made me sooooo tired. But I'm off to bed now.
God Bless
