6 weeks post surgery
Jun 10, 2010
and I'm the picture of health!!! I used to take 20+ pills a day (diabetes, high cholesterol, high BP)... I haven't had to take a single of these pills since the day of surgery!!!!
I DO have to take a Lasix every day because I tend to retain fluid in my legs, and liquid potassium to make sure the Lasix doesn't cause me to lose too much potassium. This is the first time in my LIFE that I haven't been afraid to step on the scale!!! Now that I'm eating regular food my weight might go up for a day or two, but then it drops down even lower, so I don't pay much attention to those spikes.
I'm lucky, I had no post surgical problems. I was out of work for only 4 days (surgery on Tuesday, then worked from home the following Monday). If I didn't have the option of working from home I would have probably taken off another week.
Other than having to watch the amount I eat, and making sure I get enough calories and protein, I don't notice anything different. I haven't discovered any kind of food that I can't tolerate (even small amts of popcorn at the movies!)
I feel like a different person. My outlook on life is very positive. Before, the weight was making me feel very over-whelmed, with everything. I'm back to my old, fun-loving self... I wish I'd done this sooner, but at least my children are still pre-school, so hopefully they won't remember much about the frumpy mommy they had up till this year.
My husband had a RNY gastric bypass last week, and I'm SO excited that we are taking this journey TOGETHER!!!
