I have been struggling with my weight for a long time. I have tried many weight loss programs and diets. The big D and C (diabetes and cancer) runs through my family. On September 8, 2003, I lost my best friend in the world. My Mother. She was an amazing woman. She was a nurse and loved to serve people. She was the only one I could confide in about my weight and she understood and new my struggle. Before she past away, we talked about the weight loss surgery. She thought it was a great idea. I wasn't sure at that time.

I was 5'7  and weigh approx. 278 pounds.I believe the decision maker was when I went to an amusement park and I could get on the ride because I could not fit. I was so embarrassed. I could have cried! That same year I was diagnosed with sleep apnea. That is when I knew I had to do something.  So I began to investigate the WLS process.

Over the next 2-3 years. I researched but I never made a decision. I went to seminars and logged onto obesityhelp, but I never contacted a surgeon.  I gained and lost weight. My weight ended at  galloping to 298 pounds. I was only 2 pounds away from the 300 mark.  That is when I went to visit Dr.Boyce and his office.
