As I Go In...

...I thought of a motto that I will probably use forever.  When I get photos of myself, I want to print out those member cards with this motto:

See what a real loser can do!

I think this pretty much will sum up my feelings as I begin my new life.  It sounds a bit like an "in your face" statement but I feel such a sense of pride everytime I read it or say it out loud to myself.

Feel free to use it if you like it!

The Home Stretch

The moment of truth.  Why does the day before have to be so gross?  I'm required to do a bowel prep, which means drinking 10 oz. of magnesium citrate laxative.  Well, at least the label doesn't lie like the bottle my friend had to drink back in Feb.  Hers said "pleasant lemon flavor".  Not to freak out any potential WLS candidates, but while the stuff is indeed lemon flavored, it is ANYTHING but pleasant!  My bottle does say it's "sparkling", though.  The last time I drank one of these bottles, I lost 5 pounds.  I hope to fulfill my requirement of losing 5-10 lbs. before surgery with this bottle today.  The last bottle was drunk on 9/6 and I hadn't eaten a whole lot of anything -- mostly water and Jello.

I have to send my kitty to stay with his "aunt and uncle" today.  He's such a sweet boy, but I think I will recover better without him jumping on the bed, on my belly, doing his usual "turn-n-burns" during his nocturnal freak-outs, etc.  Besides, my mom will be staying with me for the week and she's allergic to cats.  I've been a little weepy the last couple of days as I've been packing his stuff for the week.  Sounds crazy, but I don't want him to forget me.  My brother & sister-in-law have a cat about a year older than Toulouse and the last time I took Toulouse over there for a visit, he didn't want to leave.

So, I guess it's mag. citrate time.  Cheers everybody!

2 Days Away.....

Sep 08, 2007

My surgery is September 10.  I'm not very nervous, but that might change when I'm lying on the table with all the IVs and such.  I am looking forward to my future now more than ever, especially since with this surgery, I am damn near guaranteed to have one *knock on wood*.  I have made a list of the things I am most looking forward to, in no particular order.

I Am Looking Forward To...
...no more constant pain, especially in my back, knees, and ankles.
     ...breathing easier
...doing housework without having to take such frequent breaks or having to sit down to do a few dishes
...going out for a walk on a nice day and not having to think about cutting it short because of the pain
...being able to do more and keep up with my nieces and nephew!  I can't get down on the floor with them or go outside and play with them too often because of all this weight I'm hauling around.  They have only known a fat, unhealthy Aunt Elizabeth, and I want them to have the opportunity to know a more active, thinner, and healthy auntie!
...having more energy!  I would like to develop a more active lifestyle for myself and the extra energy will definitely help!
...being able to fit comfortably in movie theater seats and roller coaster seats.  It seems like such a small thing, but I would love to be able to just sit in a movie theater seat without wedging myself into it.  And I love roller coasters, so being smaller will help to ensure that the safety restraints will be more effective, not to mention, the effect on my body from the G-forces and such won't be as worrisome as they are now.
..., let's not deny it, how cool and uplifting will it be to have to buy smaller clothing?!?!?  After years of wearing 2x and 3x sizes, I'm looking forward to the confidence boost that buying even a 1x will give me.

For all of these reasons, I'm looking forward to having my surgery.

See ya'll on the other side!
